Taking a family WDW trip this November. My husband and I hope to buy an annual pass. Never did that before. How does it work as far as when/where to buy it? How/when to activate it, etc.

Also, we are on club level at AKL can they activate it and/or sell it?

Thank you!

You can purchase new Annual Passes at the DVC member rate in any of three ways:
Call MS
Online: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passes/
In-Person at any park ticket window or guest relations location

If you pre-purchase by calling or online, you will receive a will call confirmation number (or possibly a exchange certificate (aka voucher)). Also if you pre-purchase, you will need to stop at a park ticket window or guest relations location to activate your actual passes. When you go to activate the passes, you will need your DVC Member Card and all adults (ages 18+) will need a photo id showing the same address as the member.

The resorts are unable to do any thing related to annual passes.

You can buy your voucher online through Disney. When you arrive at Guest Services at the park with your voucher for the first time, they will activate and give you your pass. It will expire on activation day +1 year.
Example: Voucher bought 1/21/2016; Activated on 3/16/2016; Expires on 3/16/2017

The resorts cannot activate or sell APs.

You can buy DVC annual passes on site at any Guest Relations location. The advantage to calling MS or buying online is that the confirmation (or exchange certificate ) number can be linked to your MDE account. Once that is done, you can make FP+ reservations. If you wait to buy when you arrive, you may not be able to get FP+ for the popular attractions.
