Hi all. I'm new here and have a question. Did do a search but did not find an answer - sorry if it has been mentioned in a post before before.

Hypothetically, if I purchased 200 points for 'Resort A' resale and then purchased 150 Points Direct can I use my total 350 Points to book things like Adventures/ Interval International/ New resorts/ cruises. Or can I only use the 150 direct points for these things?

Thanks for the help. I have been reading about DVC for a month and still can't get my head around everything.

Adventures by Disney and restricted resorts require qualified (direct) points or grandfathered points. Both direct & resale points can be used in Interval.

My understanding (and experience) is the ONLY things you can't do with your resale points is Disney Experiences: Disney Cruise Line/Adventures by Disney/Nat'l Geo Expeditions (all a horrible use of points as you'd be better off renting, even at a discount to market rates, and purchasing said experiences) as well as access to the new restricted resorts (currently only Riviera and Villas at Disneyland Hotel). Otherwise, if you've purchase 150 points direct you get full access to all other DVC Member Benefits regardless of which points you use (and those 150 points you bought direct could be used for the above Experiences and new resorts).

The points themselves is what carry the restrictions. What else an owner owns make no difference.

Resale points bought today can not be used for RIV, VDH and future resorts, They also can not be used to trade for things like the Disney Collection, DVC cruises, ABD and certain hotel exchanges via II…the ones that replace the Concierge collection,
