Purchasing Annual Pass Question

I'm purchasing annual passes for us and have a question about buying them online at the Universal web site.

I've gone through part of the purchase process, clicked to purchase them, and then it asks me to register the passes. Is that the same thing as activating the passes? I'd like to not activate them until we arrive mid December so that we can also use them for next November 2015.

Any advice would be appreciated.

No, it isn't the same as activating them. It will just assign names and addresses to them and you activate them when you use them the first time.
