Purchased tickets with Max Pass last year ... now what?

Hello! We purchased DisneyLand tickets in January 2020 with the max pass option on all of them. They originally expired on 12/16/20, and with covid, Disney extended the expiration date to 12/16/21. We are scheduled to be there the week before Thanksgiving this year. Now that Disney has discontinued the max pass and is rolling out the Disney Genie functionality, will I have to buy this new thing as well for all eight tickets? Or does my max pass convert to this new function? I have tried customer service but the phone lines are constantly busy and we cant get through hold times. Thanks to anyone who has advice.

It does not convert. Other people here have checked and reported back.

You can get refunded for the Maxpass portion and then you’ll need to buy Genie+ if you want it.

If you use this link and choose "Disney Max Pass Refunds" from the pull-down menu you should get a reply. I got a reply the next day and an agent said they'd start the refund process, for MaxPass. I had my confirmation email on 8/30 but no refund yet. They said 6-8 weeks.

Same here. I bought tickets in April 2020 with Max Pass. I was there last week, took my tickets to the sales kiosk and was given a gift card for the difference. I imagine they'll do that and then have you buy Genie +on your own.
