Just purchased my DD PH tickets on line with Disney--it says to print the tickets and bring them to the gate. However, I also was able to scan the bar code and add the tickets to my Disney ap--first time I've ever done this. Do I still need to print tickets or can they be scanned from my ap at the gate?

No need to print the tickets, they can just scan the app. That's what we did last time and it worked great.

I'm of the mindset of two is one and one is none. I print AND have the email pdf at the ready just in case. If you lose your phone or it has a catastrophic failure or dead battery, best not to be left high and dry. What does a few pieces of paper and some toner cost?

Yep...that's me too.

Pro tip: Take a screen shot of your bar codes ahead of time so you have pictures of the bar codes that also will scan that you can recall in the case of connectivity issues when you are right at the gate trying to get in.

What is interesting is i bought tickets online while signed into my Disney account, went to add them and it said that it was already there, they "magically" showed up in the app!

Pro tip on the app: turn your brightness on your phone all the way up before getting to the gate.

Oh, and one more thing, have fun!

I would bring the paper tickets as well. I scanned ours into the app and offered that to the CM at the turnstile when we first arrived. He was able to scan from my app, but something must have flagged on his machine as he then said he needed to see the paper tickets. We may have been able to use the app for entry after that point, I didn't try, I just always had my paper tickets available for park entry. I wouldn't risk getting to the gate and then having a issue getting in.

Yup, I'm also of the "have both" mindset. On my last trip, I ended up needing my physical ticket because, as I was waiting to get in through security, my phone decided to freeze up and wouldn't get past the boot screen for about an hour. I have no idea why that happened, but if I was solely dependent on the app, I would have been waiting outside of the parks until my phone unfroze!

Same thing has happened to me a couple times with plane boarding passes too. Always have paper in my bag. App crashing, loss of network, dead/dying battery can ruin your day otherwise.

Plus, fatpasses

Yeah, it happens to me too. I bought 3 Halloween party tickets and they are already in my account. When I got a ticket for the Guardians of the Galaxy premiere party, it was automatically added. What makes it annoying is I have Maxpass (came with my Premier pass), so when I go to create a FP party, there are 5 IDs - 3 halloween party, 1 DLR ID, and 1 WDW ID! I have to remember which one is my DLR ID to pick it for the FP selection.
