purchase resale now - vaca Aug? possible?

Dear All:
I was interested in purchasing a resale now for the bwv. There are points for this year to be used which would allow us to vacation. We would like to vacation in AUgust. Do you think that there will be enough time to purchase the resale, close and make the reservation? How long has it taken you to close if you purchased a resale? Does anyone think that there will be any 1 bedrooms availble in August? I hate to puchase the DVC and not be able to go for a year. (we are expecting a baby in November).

Yes. We bought a BWV resale last July with lots of banked points. Half of the banked points expired 8/31/04. We signed the purchase documents in early July and made reservations before the end of July. It can take a while longer and the seller has to do their part to expedite. However, you should not have any trouble now. As I recall we were limited to SSR and OKW last minute but you might get lucky and have more options.

I think there should be plenty of time. If you are planning to go the last half of August, there should be inventory to reserve yet.

We entered a contract to buy resale at OKW on Feb 1. Our contract was submitted to DVC on Feb 10, and passed FROR on Feb 28. I called the closing company yesterday and was told to expect paperwork to come next week. Then we will have to wait to get into the DVC system. I think you should expect 2-3 months for the whole process.
