Just opened the pup to ready for FW spring break trip and discovered leak in front corner. Pup is Starcraft, so no seams. Noticed caulk along metal finished piece is cracked. That piece runs front to back and forms a seal between roof and side wall. Scraped all the caulk on both strips, as well as front lights and front side seams. Any other ideas? Roof does not seem soft, but mildew on upper corner and rust stain on canvas. Leaving in week.

Well could be the cracked caulk.

You should reseal/recaulk it with a marine (boat) grade caulk (which most good rv caulks are).

It probably happened the last time you brought it back and put it away if it had time to stain.

I just got back today with my pup from a week in New Orleans. When we left last Saturday it was raining cats and dogs. When we got to the SP outside NOLA Sat afternoon and popped up, the front bunk was damp. I think the latches holding down the roof were not tight enough and driving at interstate speeds pushed some water in. Maybe that happened to you last time you used it.

I also store my pup with a container of DampRid inside it to absorb interior moisture hoping that this step will slow or prevent mold growth whenever it is closed up. I also pop it up and air it out good before closing it up for the winter. Our NOLA trip was the first one of the spring.

Give your pup a little TLC. And definitely look at all your roof/pup top caulk and be generous when recaulcking.

Yep! We had the same issue in the front corner of our pop up. There was just a small crack in the caulking that caused a lot of water to come in during a heavy rain. We recaulked it and haven't had issues since.

Phoey, I used regular window and door caulk. If it doesn't hold guess I will be doing it all over again. I sprayed it down really well with the hose yesterday from all angles and so far so good. I like the Damp Rid idea. I may try that too. Thanks Ed.
