Punished for being a DVC member?

I also use my cc for everything and then pay it off before interest accrues. While I do use my Disney Visa when they have an extra cash-back promo, I have another signature visa that earns far more rewards. I usually get at least $600 per year cash back just for using that card. As to the Disney Visa 0% interest, I'm a DVC member also and really only get that benefit for DCL payments, but it's nice to have.---Kathy

We're in the same boat -we use the card for EVERYTHING(daily expenses, large purchases, car down-payments, etc.), and pay it of every month. We visit Disney about every other year and accumulate about $750 each year or about $1500 for each trip -use it for tickets or food. Only 1% but it adds up over time. It also has some discounts when shopping in Disney.

In order to get the 0% interest, I think you need to book an entire package through Disney. One good thing about DVC is that you can buy your tickets at a discount price from someone like Undercover Tourist and still add the dining plan. I love the 10 day non expiring tickets. Like others here, I also charge most everything to my Disney Visa card and pay it off at the end of each month. I usually have enough in reward points to pay for most of my dining plan.

I generally fine the 7 and 10 day non expiring tickets higher cost per day than other options for our trips. I think they tend to work out best for those who only do the parks a few days a year but not all in one trip and not enough to justify an AP. How do you use them that you feel they give you the best value?

You are right. It depends on how many days you spend in the parks & how often you visit if the non expiring tickets are a good deal. We buy the 10 day with waterpark option. We go to WDW once per year. We only go in the "main parks" 3-4 days per visit plus a few days in the waterparks. When we go to a waterpark, we stay all day and do not visit any other parks. Our tickets last for @ 3 years. I have also used my non expiring ticket for a day pass to Disneyland. I did this a few years ago, hopefully they still allow this.

Thanks, that's the only situation where I could see that ticket type being the best choice, where you needed to use it over more than 2 years for no more than 3 days park days at at time, wanted the plus options and also the park hopping. For us, there always seem to be better choices even though I have 4 FL resident 7 day non expiring tickets in hand. We keep them for when we need just one day or so.

Ideally, you could have purchased using card, then paid it off...effectively (via the points) getting a 1% discount

Exactly. We put our DVC purchase through Disney on our Disney rewards card to earn rewards dollars on it. I would never charge something that I couldn't pay off right away so I couldn't even tell you what the interest rates are on any of our charge cards.

My favorite card is the Amex blue. I earn cash back with that card, usually 1.25% but 5% on things like groceries, gas, etc. I use that one more often than my Disney rewards VISA card.
