Hi Jackie. I hate it too & that is why I went back & did the post just now in Word. Stupid thing.
We went to my Aunt's house..she hosts Thanksgiving every year. We had a nice meal & then sat around & talked. I took my cruise pictures & shared those. The family loved the Mary & Bert pictures. They also asked who are all these people in lime green shirts??????? :lmao: I don't think they really understood when I explained that you guys were my DIS family. :goodvibes:

Had a nice one....ate too much. Now I am ready to relax on the sofa.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I didn't shop much but I think a cool Caribbean jewelry souvenir that I was going to look for in St Thomas or St John is a Carribean hook bracelet. I am not much of a shopper but maybe someone else can help you out.

So we left off with us having a rest up so that we could party like pirates tonight. We went to see Alfred & Seymour in the Walt Disney theatre & really enjoyed their show. They were just as funny as they had been in the adult show earlier in the week. They chased people up the aisles if they tried to leave. Hilarious.
100_0748.jpg

We enjoyed a drink of the day while watching the show. This was my favorite drink of the day. A pineapple mojito.
100_0743.jpg

Next we headed back to the room to transform ourselves into pirates. We happened upon all these scurvy pirates in the lobby.
100_0751.jpg

We went & had a chat with Peter Pan. He was great & sooooooooo Peter Pan. I really enjoyed talking with him. He even corrected Eric for calling the Magic a boat. Too funny.
000_0005.jpg

We went to the Promenade Lounge to hang out until dinner & enjoyed another mojito & some yummy chips with salsa & guacamole. We saw Ducky Williams & his entourage in their pirate attire….they had great hats. I finally got up the courage to speak to him & let him know how much I had enjoyed his presentations & his story. I said it really proved that persistence pays off & he said “I don’t know about persistence, I tend to think it might be stubbornness.” Such a nice & humble man. It really was a thrill to get to meet him. A definite highlight of this trip was sailing with him.
Now it was time for dinner. We were in Lumiere’s again, but with the special Pirates in the Carribean theme dinner.
Bandanas & pirate menus.
100_0753.jpg

Our dinner companions were in the pirate spirit as well. I had asked the very first night if they were “dressing for pirate night”. I got some strange looks like they thought I meant we were going to come naked that night or something. :teeth: Mary & Ellis had bought special pirate t-shirts in St Marteen & Ellis’ was hilarious…it said “Surrender the Booty”. We still hadn’t met our other table mates, but the 6 of us had a nice pirate meal together.
Crab cake appetizer
100_0754.jpg

Treasures of the sea-scallops & shrimp.
100_0756.jpg

We decided to skip dessert & head on up to the pirate party.
100_0763.jpg

We went up to Deck 10 starboard side to watch the festivities.
100_0766.jpg

Let’s get it started……..

Move it like Minnie

Now it was time for Mickey to save the day……..
100_0776.jpg

I think we need a hero

The party in the sky that Mickey promised us

Seeing the fireworks out over the ocean is an awesome sight.
100_0789.jpg

Well, we had partied like pirates but we wanted to party some more. We decided we didn't want any dessert or food as we were still full from dinner so we skipped out on the pirate night buffet. We went back to the room & changed out of our pirate costumes & headed to Rockin Bar D for some Krazy Karaoke. I was supposed to sing with some of the girls……ahem Paula, but nobody else showed up so I ended up putting my name on to sing anyway & I don’t know what possessed me to do it. I think I was the last person & I sang a Rick Springfield classic (my other obsession besides Disney is Rick) & I am not sure I will ever do it again. I was pretty nervous, but I made it through it & was rewarded with a free shot.
100_0794.jpg

We came back after a fun filled night to find this very creative creature waiting for us.
100_0749.jpg

It was a very full & fun day.

Up next……It’s my birthday…….woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Melanie! I had to pipe in again and tell you how much I am enjoying your trip report!! We leave in 3 months for our second Disney cruise! Your trip report is making me very anxious!! Love all the pics and videos!!

Sorry you had a bad day at work. I finally had a chance to add more to my trip report because the office closed at 1pm today.:thumbsup2

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Hope you had a great day Becky & glad you are still writing...you have a whole other week to write about.

:welcome: Holli. I am glad you are enjoying. I am having fun writing about it & it makes it possible to relive the trip all over again. I know you will have a great cruise & 3 months will pass quickly.

Oh, how brave you are doing karaoke.:thumbsup2

That is a torture I will not be inflicting on my shipmates!

Leesa I don't know how brave it was......more stupid I think. The DJ freaked me out even more....as I was singing he did a fog/smoke effect & then strobe lights. Good lord!!!!!!!!!!! My DH was sweet & said I sounded fine, but I felt ridiculous!!!! Next time, I will stick to watching.

Our cruise went way to fast. Your pictures are great. I saw All & Seymor they were great they left the ship at one of the islands. You do write a good report.:grouphug:

Originally we had an excursion booked for today. We were supposed to go on the St John island tour, but found out that we would have to be up & clear customs by 6:45am, so it was a joint decision that we would do something different as neither one of us wanted to get up that early after we would be staying up late on pirate night. This surprised me when my DH brought it up for 2 reasons….
1) He doesn’t like to waste money & excursions are non-refundable.
2) He is a morning person & likes getting up early, but not so much on vacation.
So we had actually decided on Tuesday that we were going to skip out on our excursion. While we were in the gym on Tuesday, we stopped to find out what specials they were having in the spa. I booked a hot stone massage for myself for Wed at 10:00 am & the plan was relaxation instead of the excursion. We would meet up in the rainforest room after my massage.

So we got up at 7:30 to head to the Walt Disney theatre to clear customs. It was a pretty painless process, but it really was just a formality as the officers barely glanced at our passports & it really kind seemed ridiculous to us. We headed to Parrot Cay to eat breakfast—this was our only breakfast all week that wasn’t eaten at Topsiders. I still think Topsiders had a better selection…there we no Krispy Kreme jelly doughnuts at PC.

After breakfast, we decided walked around & looked at the island from Deck 10.
100_0811.jpg

We decided that we would at least get off the ship & go over to the tram to get a nice view of the Magic & St Thomas.
Eric has a little of the Captain in him..........:rotfl:
100_0802.jpg

We went over there, but there was a huge line & I was afraid that we would not make it back to the ship in time & I would be late for my massage, so we strolled around a little bit & took a few pictures of the Magic & then got right back on board.
100_0803.jpg

I look tiny in front of her....
100_0805.jpg

It was amazing…we weren’t outside that long & we didn’t walk that far, but we were drenched in sweat from the time we were out there, so I had to take a quick shower before my massage.

I showed up at the Vista Spa a few minutes early & filled out their health questionnaire.
100_0824.jpg

Eric headed to work out & we agreed to meet up in the Rainforest Room later. I was expecting a female masseuse but was greeted by Eric from Poland. I must say that I was a tad bit freaked out because I have only ever had 1 other massage & it was from a woman in Jamaica & I am a tad bit modest/shy. Anyway, he took me to my room & we chatted about specific areas that bothered me & the goal for the massage for me & he left me to change—with the instruction to undress to my level of comfort which I thought was nice.
100_0826.jpg

I forgot all about being freaked out about 2 minutes into the massage. The warm stones & calming music had me so relaxed that soon I was about to go to sleep. This massage was HEAVENLY!!!!!!!! I would do this again in a heartbeat & it was a perfect way to pamper myself on my 40th birthday. I felt like a relaxed limp noodle when he was finished. He left me to get dressed & then came back with products that he thought would be helpful for me at home. I carry a lot of my tension in my neck & shoulders & I did end up buying the muscle ease oil & a calming lotion. I spent way too much money, but I have used both a few times since & they really do help. So feeling like a new woman, I went to the changing room & got in my swimsuit & robe & headed to the Rainforest Room. I got a couple of refreshing lemon & cucumber waters & took them in & there was my DH on one of the too die for heated recliners waiting for me.
100_0830.jpg

There was hardly any one else there….I think 2 or 3 other people & we really enjoyed our time here relaxing in the steam room & sauna but especially just relaxing in those loungers.
100_0828.jpg

TIP……….If you don’t want to go ashore stay on the ship & enjoy the spa. It is so much less crowded on port days & you can even save money on the treatments. I think my massage was about 40$ cheaper.
100_0831.jpg

After all our relaxing, we were starting to get a little hungry. We wanted to order room service since we hadn’t done that yet. We stopped by Goofy’s & got a little snack because we knew room service would take awhile.
We watched Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix while waiting for our food. Everything was good….but we especially enjoyed the All Hands on Deck cheese platter
100_0834.jpg

A fajita sandwich & blt which we shared
100_0836.jpg

The GIANT chocolate chip cookies-OMG these were so good.
100_0837.jpg

Great lunch. I had a few Halloween treats to give out to my fellow DISERS so we put those in bags & went fish extender gifting again. After that we decided to head up to Deck 9 & get a drink of the day. We sat at Signals & enjoyed a Witches Brew. It was a nice drink & seemed appropriate being that it was Halloween.
100_0838.jpg

Next up was a nap because we knew we were going to be up late tonight with all the Halloween festivities. We woke up & felt refreshed & ready to take on the night.
We wanted to go see Ratatouille so we headed on down to the WD theatre & grabbed a popcorn & drink & settled in to watch about Remy & his adventures in the culinary arts. It was a great movie & we really enjoyed seeing it.

Next update..........Halloween & dressing up is FUN!!!!!

Thanks Babs. I agree the cruise went by way too fast & I don't know how I will ever wait 2 years to cruise again.

This is getting so exciting!!!

I can only hope for cheaper spa visits on shore days! I will take my turn for sure.

I have a question about the rainforest room? How much is it per visit, hour, day, etc....

Keep the story coming!

Tara

oooo Mary Poppins is up next, I can't wait! I'm sorry you didn't get to do the St. John Island tour. We did it and enjoyed it immensely! :goodvibes

Nice update, Melanie! Your spa day sounds really relaxing! We loved touring St. Thomas by open air bus - got to see the whole island, got some great pics, and then had time to shop and go up on deck and enjoy the view with a drink before we headed out. I think it's great that everyone can be on the same cruise and have so many different experiences!

Can't wait to see your costumes!

Tara........a day pass to the RFR is 15$ or for a week it's 75$. When you have a spa treatment booked, you don't have to pay extra for it. We used it again on Thursday as we had another treatment.

Yep Mary is next!!!! I am ok with not going.......just another reason to go back & see more next time right?

Costumes will be up next. I do love that you can have lots of different experiences from different people on the same cruise. That's why I like reading trip reports because they are rarely the same experiences & then you get to experience things you didn't do yourself.

I'm working on uploading pictures for the next installment. I hope to have it up late tonight or early tomorrow. We have a busy day today--Thanksgiving with DH family & dinner with mine tonight for my brother's bday.

OMG Melanie... sounds like you had a wonderful time. I am a WDW pro but have not been on the DCL. I was looking for info (oddly enough we want to cruise next Halloween, we go to MNSSHP EVERY year and celebrate our Nov. 1st Anniversary, 2008 will be 5 years so we want to take a Dis cruise too!!) I couldn't have found a more enticing TR! I read it all in one sitting and can't wait to get to Halloween night.
Being new to the DCL forums I have SOOO many question from your TR...Like the fish extenders, is that a common practice and do most cruises have a Dis. member meet up..I just LOVE meeting fellow dis'ers- they've becom some of my BEST friends. Oh, there are so many more ???'s
I totally hope that there is a dis'er as wonderful as you on MY cruise.

I am so happy that you had such a wonderful 40th birthday, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I can't wait to start planning!!!

...t.

You pictures are just wonderful! You both looked so great in your pirate costumes! pirate: That's such a fun night!

I love the Witches Brew! What an appropriate drink for your Halloween cruise!
And...the cheese plate looks so yumm!

We had the same heat experience in Nassau. We walked off and were back on the ship within 15 minutes! It just wasn't worth it! We barely made it past the ship before we were sweating to death.

I'm so glad you got to see Ratatouille! That must have been fun! We got to enjoy Meet the Robinsons and it is so fun watching the Disney movies on the ship!
