Soon it was time to get ready for Halloween. We knew we would have to go to dinner dressed in our costumes as the Halloween costume contest would be starting at 10:15 & we had later dinner. So we headed back to the room & got into our costumes. I was so excited about this as we had been planning these costumes for months. I have always loved Mary Poppins & thought it would be a great costume & DH could be Bert. Finally it was time to become Mary. I put my hair up & pinned my hat to my head & we got dressed & headed out for our night of fun. Phillip was in the hall& he gave us 2 thumbs up.
I wanted to make sure we got down early enough to have some pictures taken. We had our portrait done on the white background which I thought would show off the costumes best.
We also did the ocean background & had our photo taken with Witchie Minnie. We started to get attention as soon as we walked off the elevators. We had people stopping us to take our picture which was really cool. It was fun to walk around & have people saying Oh look its Mary Poppins. At one point, we were in the lobby for pictures & the piano player was playing a whole medley of Mary Poppins songs which was too cool. I was singing & dancing along with my umbrella. We saw Ducky Williams & his group & we got a thumbs up from him on our costumes from across the room which made me feel great since he said he did a lot of character authenticity work in his job.
We made our way to dinner in Animators Palate.
Great pumpkins........
Our only dinner companions for this evening were Brian & Robin who were dressed as a Haunted Mansion ghost couple. They looked awesome!!!!!
Mary & Ellis were dining at Palo & the other couple still hadnt shown up yet & they were now The Mystery Couple to all of us. We had debated whether they were honeymooners or if they even existed. I did miss getting to see the show in AP-as we missed it for our Palo dinner, but it was cool even to just see all the drawing in black & white. We had fun chatting & watching Brian & Robin try to eat without messing up their make-up. Dinner was the master chef menu tonight & it was good.
Tropical fruit cup
Leaves of boston bibb & radicchio
Oven baked orange roughy...yummo
I got a birthday cake tonight too along with a serenade from the servers lead by our head server Marco from Italy who said he was going to sing Pavarottis part.
I had already ordered the peach flambe so we didnt touch the birthday cake. We ended up never eating a bite of it even though Eric took it back to the room.
After dinner, we headed to the atrium so we could enjoy the costume contest.
We were noticed by the cruise staff right away & they kept pointing at us & smiling. I was hoping that we would be picked to compete, but I wasnt sure. There were some really great costumes.
Spooky Mickey
Mr & Mrs Potato Head
The Flintstones
After hanging out in the lobby for awhile, Oscar from the cruise staff came up & gave us a card & told us they wanted us to be in the contest for Most Disney. We were asked to wait over to the side & they got our names etc. We had fun getting photographed & chatting with a few of the crew members-most memorably was the piano player who had been playing the Mary Poppins songs earlier who sought us out to tell us how great we looked & how much he loved the movie.
The categories were Most Disney, Scariest, Funniest, Most Original & Best Group. There were 3 judges & they would decide the winners.
Most Disney was first & we went up to the stage with the other 2 contestants who were Tinker Bell & Jack Skellington. They were both awesome. They introduced us. We got a big yell from the crowd & I am sure some of that came from our DIS buddies that were there. Brent the cruise director asked for our card & Eric had put it in his pocket so I said Its in his pocket. Brent started laughing & said this is a family ship maam. Too funny!!!!
The judges made their decision &
.
WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here we are when they announced the winner....I was looking up at the judges.
These great pictures are courtesy of twicks aka Tara

who took them from the crowd. I am so glad she did because obviously we wouldnt have had any pictures of us up on stage.
We were thrilled to have won & we got 2 cute trophies & a big box of Hersheys Kissables.
We watched the rest of the contest & cheered on our favorites.
Scariest was won by a couple that were dressed very similar to our tablemates Robin & Brian as a Haunted Mansion couple.
Funniest was won by a confused grandmother (who had on all kinds of different sports team stuff like she couldnt decide who to cheer for)
Most original was won by a guy who had an amp on his feet & a guitar
you would have had to see it. It sounds silly but was pretty cute.
Best group went to the Adams family.
It was great fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How cool to win on my birthday. I knew our costumes were good & that we were unique & classic Disney, but I really didnt think we would win. It was the cherry on top of my birthday sundae.
We stayed in our costumes & headed on over to Rockin Bar D. When we walked in we heard people yelling at us & saw waving arms. There was a table of our special DIS friends that wanted us to join them. We went on over & sat down with Paula, Kim, Chris & his wife Hazel & we had a blast hanging out with them that night. We drank a few more witches brews & watched the juggler/comedian-who balanced a bowling ball on his face & used a paddle ball in some VERY INTERSTING ways placed in a VERY INTERESTING place. Our little group was saying funnier things than he was & we all kept laughing. We were having our own little party & I am sooooo surprised he didnt pick on us.
After the comedian, the dancers came in & did their Michael Jackson thing
..the did a few songs & did Thriller which seemed appropriate on Halloween.

After that our DIS friends left us to go collect their kids & we stayed & danced on to 80s music until after 1am. We must have been some sight out there shaking it dressed like Mary Poppins & Bert. I wish I had a picture of that.
Alone in the lobby again, we tried to get a picture of me with my umbrella opened. DH took like 4 or 5 & they all turned out blurry. Not sure if it was the motion of the ocean or the Witches Brews.
We were greeted by this cute monkey wearing my sunglasses & Eric's boxers when returned to our room.
Here are the trophies we won.
IT WAS AN AWESOME NIGHT & one I will never forget. A GREAT 40TH birthday.
Up next...Exotic Rasul & tea for two.
