Pumpkins, and candy, and Mickey, oh my! (TR complete!)

That's one of the best pictures of the Stinger I've seen, wow!

The pumpkin on Screamin' almost made me wish I'd been to one of the parties.

And while everyone's costume was fun, Noelle's costume was probably the best 80s teen costumes I've ever seen. Nice!!!!! It used to bug the crud outta my mom when people did nonsense things when dressing up for 50s days, and it now drives me mad when people do silly things about 80s clothes. :upsidedow

that was one of the best looking burgers I have ever seen in my life. :worship:

Great costumes!

IMHO, I think Pocahontas should have been taller. She's like a giant in the movie!

Good looking food!

IGreat two updates. I love the giant Candy corn. I think it was funny that the CM didn't know who that was. I remember last time we went he was out at the enterance at the park and I couldn't remember his name either but then he signed my autograph book and that's when I remember him. I would like to do the MNSSHP once as well. But it probably wouldn't be with the kids. We are going to WDW next Nov and then probably won't be back until another 5 years. DH only lets me go every 5 years. Shame on him. Great pictures.

I'm still here. I am just sick with a cold and was in bed asleep before 8 o'clock. I love the pictures and my gosh on the candy. I think Halloween was bigger because it was on a Friday and next year will a biggie too.

Wendy, we added all that candy to the two bags we already had at home. Then on Halloween Ruben was worried we'd still be short, so he bought FOUR more bags and added that.
Guess what? We gave it ALL away!! We had a lot of trick or treaters. And I have to admit we gave each kid at least 3 pieces (some much more towards the end) so they were all happy with our house. LOL

Our house doesn't get any trick or treaters, so I guess it's kinda hard to imagine being able to give all that candy away!

The line to get in was scary, but it went surprisingly fast. Did you know Callie was there that night too? She and her family were the first ones in the line they were in! She got there like an hour early, I think, and they were the first ones on TSMM. :worship:

Callie must have been hiding from me. :rotfl:

I'm glad you had fun with us even though we didn't do much. Honestly, all the kids wanted was candy since we'd been there all day already. Go figure. :confused3 ;) And I was so tired, I was happy just to people watch and soak up the Halloween decorations.

I had a lot of fun with you guys. Your kids crack me up. :goodvibes

Oh, and yes, the pics are Ruben's. He's the family photographer which is why he's rarely in the pics.

I remembered you telling me about how you didn't want to look like a crazy person taking a picture of your food.

I think you might be my only reader left.....:rotfl:

Well, it doesn't look like that anymore...my trip report on the other hand....
I guess I'll keep writing mine for your benefit. :rotfl2:

Love the web on the Stinger and the jck o' lantern on Screamin'. Tell Ruben great pics.
Thanks, I will. :goodvibes

Thanks, I'll tell Ruben you liked the Stinger pic, since like everything else, he took them. LOL The decorations were awesome. That alone was worth going for I admit.

Thanks for the comment on Noelle's costume. I have to say, I loved it too! I put it all together. We started out with the hot pink leggings, and skirt. I saw them on sale at Children's Place and they reminded me of 80's colors.

We found the orange tank top at Walmart, and then cut one of her white tees so it scooped down low so the tank top showed underneath the white tee. (although you can't see it in any of the party pics, but you can in the one below)
We used an old black belt she had. She had a few bracelets, but we bought a LOT more from Walmart. The sunglasses, necklace and scrunchie were from Walmart. The bright orange shoes were from Walmart.

The earrings were my favorite. I wish you could make out the details more clearly, they are actually buttons in hot pink, orange, yellow and green flourescent colors and so cute. Those came from Claire's and so did the gloves. The jean jacket was a No Excuses jacket and something we'd found ages ago in a thrift store in MI. I'd come so close to giving it away many times, but never did, and it was perfect.

All total I'd figured the whole costume cost about $55, which is more then I'd usually spend on one kid's costume, but I loved it. Maybe because I used to dress that way!! :rotfl2:

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. :goodvibes I tried to get it just right. :rotfl:

Great costumes!
Isn't it?? Ruben loved it. He likes burgers with 1000 Island dressing and on sourdough bread, but not many places make them like that. I know we'll be eating there again just for that burger.

Another good burger is the quesadilla burger from Applebee's.

I was so happy Lindsey got to take a pic with Pocahontas while she was in her costume. :)

Thanks.
The MNSSHP was fun. I've been once. Definitely more to see then at the DCA party, but soooooo much more crowded. :scared1: At least the day we went it was. I mean, wall to wall people. Try to go during the week. We went on a Friday.

Their parade is awesome though! They have the headless horseman open the parade. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUkwavQno3Q

Aww, I'm sorry you are sick! Thanks for still reading though.
Hannah just came down with a cold too. Which of course means it will be making the rounds here before long. :sad2: At least they have a four day weekend so she can rest.

I hope you get lots of rest and feel better fast! :wizard:

I remembered you telling me about how you didn't want to look like a crazy person taking a picture of your food.
:lmao: Yes, in Mimi's! It was too closed in to take a pic in there, although he managed to sneak one in. ;)

The rest of the time, I don't mine being the food photographer though. LOL
I don't mind taking it of snacks or counter service stuff. That's easy. I probably couldn't do it in an actual restaurant like Blue Bayou or someplace. I'd want to, but I'd feel too funny, so I'm always grateful when I see others food pics from there. :thumbsup2

Great update! You guys got a TON of candy!

I like the girl's costumes! And your's too! Too cute! I bet Pochy was happy to meet someone dressed up like her!

I didn't even notice the webness on the Orange when we went.

Oh yeah, good thing Wendy was normal when you met her!! Whew! :rotfl:

More more! :yay:

Your kids look adorable in their costumes. You all saw a lot of characters. We were there the same night and found the character lines to be really long. We got there late and left early- that could explain why. :confused3

It looks like you had a good time!

Thanks for all the comments. I'll try to post an update sometime tomorrow.

I think we just hit the character lines right. I did see that the line for Mickey and Minnie was outrageously long!

I'm still here.........:yay:
You guys looked great for Halloween & you did get the 80's just right.......
I can't believe all that candy...WOW:scared1:
I took pictures of all our food on our cruise last year & at first I think my table mates thought I was nuts but then they started saying this looks pretty do you want to take a picture of it?:rotfl: I don't mind if people look at me funny as I feel a solemn duty to give my trip report readers the correct amount of food porn!!!!:lmao:
popcorn::

That is so funny! I have my kids trained. They wouldn't eat anything without saying, "Are you going to take a picture of this mom?" :rotfl:

HOLY CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That makes me a bit sad taht we didnt' actually trick or treat the night we went..oh well!
I think i feel the same way as you..i am glad i checked it out, but i wouldn't do it again. I think the WDW one is supposed to be a bit more of an event though, so i think i would try that one.
I DID love the candy corn acres though..you can't beat giant candy corn! :)
Great installment!

Thanks, yeah, the candy was insane! And it was good stuff too! Even Ghiraradelli (sp?). Mmmmm.
The WDW one is nice, just don't go on a Friday or weekend or you won't be able to walk! :scared1:

The Halloween decorations at DL and DCA are so cool, and you can see most of them without doing the party.

There was no early morning rush to get up on this day. We were all pretty pooped from the Halloween party and I had planned to sleep in. Shortly after 9 a.m. I was awoken by something.....a noise.....what WAS that??

A crinkling or rustling of sorts. Hmmmm.....I know what that is. Even in my half awake state the sound of a candy wrapper was unmistakable. :rotfl2: Lindsey had woken up before anyone and the duffel bag full of candy sitting open on the table was apparently to much to resist. LOL
She was so cute looking at me with her mouth full of candy, trying to act very innocent, that I couldn't get mad. Heck, candy sounded like a good breakfast to me at that point. ;)

We took our time getting up and ready and finally made our way over to Disneyland around 11. Wow, it was much more crowded!! I wasn't too surprised though. It was a Friday and we knew many people from Utah would be there since they had no school. But it was still a bummer compared to how the other days had been.

First of we saw Chip and Dale, and the twins posed with them.

We went and got some FPs for Indiana, then Ruben got me a bracelet from that place in Frontierland across from the shooting gallery. Not sure what it's called, but I loved my bracelet. It's even lime green! It has my name on it and a Tink. I don't have a pic, but I'll try to get one.
While I was getting a bracelet, the kids all went on BTM.

After that it was time for our Carnation Cafe lunch reservation. We went to check in and after a bit of a wait and some confusion, we were finally seated.
I love Carnation Cafe! It's so good. I finally was able to try the much praised Loaded Baked Potato soup. Mmmmmmm.

DSCF5983.jpg

The girls got the make your own PB and J sandwich. Always lots of fun.

DSCF5985.jpg

Ruben ordered the pot pie. He really likes this and orders it every time.

DSCF5988.jpg

Adam ordered the hot dog, which was nothing special.

DSCF5990.jpg

I had the turkey sandwich on pretzel bread with some potato salad. Yum.

DSCF5992.jpg

While we were eating, we got a real treat!! Oscar came out to visit with us. I've heard of him and seen his pics, but this was our first time to meet him. :goodvibes

After lunch we went on Pirates and it was the longest wait we'd had all week so far. From there we got fast passes for the Haunted Mansion and used our Indy fast passes. We kind of wandered around, checked out the secret bathroom, and took some pics with the Fairy Godmother, something I'd never done before so that was neat.

DSCF5997.jpg

It was time to use our Haunted Mansion fast passes and it was hard to make our way over there! The crowds in front of the mansion and the walkway were unreal. People were shoulder to shoulder!! :scared: The wait was over an hour. Thank goodness we had fast passes.

After the HM, I was ready to escape for a bit, so I grabbed a slushie lemonade and we hopped on one of the rafts over to Tom Sawyers Island. We spent a lot of time over there just hanging out, letting the kids explore. Ruben and I found a shady bench and just chilled while the kids ran back and forth on the bridges.

The Mark Twain coming around the corner.

DSCF6016.jpg

Chillin on TSI. See on my lanyard, the lime green mickey thingy I bought?? I loved that!

DSCF6020.jpg

I have no idea how long we stayed on the island. I lost track of time, but it was just so relaxing over there and something we rarely do because we are usually so busy rushing around doing rides. Finally we headed back into the sea of people on the other side, and I decided to buy the kids what they had been begging for since before we even arrived at Disneyland.....

Funnel cakes!!!!!! :rotfl:

DSCF6029.jpg

While they were satisfying their sweet tooths, I ducked into a restroom near the Mexican restaurant to change out of my sweaty tee and into something a little nicer to wear to dinner. I had plans to meet up with some of the great DIS ladies I met on the April trip!! I was really excited to see them again. So I said good bye to Ruben and the kids, and headed off to Cafe Orleans. :cool1:

Ruben took the kids off to Innoventions. He said later on they'd had a great time. Innoventions bores me to tears, so if I'd been there, we'd have been in and out in under 10 minutes. But they loved it and stayed in there for TWO HOURS! Then they had dinner at Red Rocket's Pizza Port and went on Space Mountain and watched the fireworks, before we all met up again later that night.

Up next.......a DIS mini meet.

Yay, an update!!! Cute pictures of you and your family. I love that Lindsey sneaked into the candy early in the AM. That potato soup is so yummy! I still haven't had a funnel cake. :confused3 Maybe on my next trip I'll sneak one in. Hey, maybe I was on the Mark Twain in that picture! :rotfl2:

Thanks. Yeah, Lindsey had me cracking up. I mean, I know at her age I'd have done the same thing, and probably did! So I couldn't get mad.

I love the funnel cakes. Oh, I love all DL snacks, who am I kidding??? :lmao: We should split a funnel cake in March. I need some snacking partners! Usually I split everything with my family so I can sample a wider variety without getting full. If I have to eat everything myself in March, I won't be able to try nearly as much. :rotfl:

That would have been hilarious if you were in the pic on the Mark Twain. :rotfl2:

I am totally about splitting snacks! At Food and Wine last week my Mom, my friend and his kids' babysitter and I split a bunch of items and it was great to get a taste of several different things. (We all had our own alcoholic drinks, however!!! Yum!)
