Pumping gas

I live in Oregon and we don't pump our own gas. I sometimes hate having to wait for someone to help me. As you can tell, I'm very impatient. But I must say though that it is better than having to pump your own gas in the freezing cold and rain, since it rains like cats and dogs in Oregon.

Love livivng in Jersey and having my gas pumped for me! I remember when I was a teenager and driving into Philly, sitting at the pump wondering why no one was coming out to pump the gas. A kind stranger approached and told me I had to do it myself.....WHAT?!?! Thank god, they were nice and decent and did it for me!

Okay, so question for you all? Do you tip the attendant at the place that pumps it for you? Not necessarily in NJ and OR as you don't have a choice but how about those who go to hte places where there is a choice? There is a place in town that has about the same price as everywhere else, but they pump for you. There are some winter days that no way do I want to go out there to pump, but then I feel sorry for the guys who are stuck out there. I am just too much of a softie?

Well i do on very rainy days or snowy days and so does my wife,since i know what it was like to stand out there all day pumping gas for a living,sometimes soaking wet till 2 in the morning, ill tip them and on holidays also.I guess im a softy.

We found the same thing first time we traveled through NJ. DH hops out-he ALWAYS fills it right to the tip top when travelling-and the attendant races over and says "you can't pump it-you're breaking the law". Now he makes sure we never need gas in NJ.
