Question:

Are Pull-Ups allowed in the kids clubs?

Situation:
Our 2 10/12 yo granddaughter is very, very close to being potty trained. We cruise in October.

I know that kids are supposed to be potty trained to go into the kids clubs. Potty trained in that they can go by themselves, undies down, potty, clean, undies up, flush and wash hands. I know the age is 3yo. But I also know of kids younger than 3 being allowed in. I know that we can take her in and stay to supervise/play with her if needed.

But are pull ups allowed just in case?

If not, we are fine with the Nursery and have time reserved there already.

Kids younger than 3 are only allowed to register for the club and stay on their own if they are fully PTd. They do not allow pullups in the clubs during the day. They do tend to allow them at night when they kids show up in thier PJs to watch movies and lie down on mats in front of the screen because it makes it much easier for parents to just pick up the kid and put them straight to bed without waking them up to change them for bed.

Thank you for your informative and non-judgemental reply.

I guess we will wait and see how well the potty training goes.

Sparkie, just an fyi...if your little one is trained by the time you go it would be worthwile to remind them to tell a CM that they have to go. My dd was trained without any problems and at daycare they took regular potty breaks and if needed she felt comfortable to tell the teacher she had to go. At the club she didn't know who to tell and had an accident. The staff couldn't have been nicer and gave her dry shorts to wear. But I wanted to mention since we as adults may take it for granted that the kids will tell someone they have to go when, in my case, they might not. Have a great time!

I would go every couple hours and escort DD to the bathroom myself just to make sure. It is an exciting place with lots going on and even an experienced PTg child will "forget" until the last minute.

Agree -- that's our plan :) We figure we'll check in on them every hour or two and if they want to stay we'll take a potty break. wash, rinse, repeat.

Yes it sounds as if you are very informed and it is just as you inquire. If the clubs are not full, they will allow 2 year old children in the club if FULLY potty trainned AND Potty INDEPENDENT! Those are the ONLY 2 year olds allowed without a supervising parent.

Also they are not allowed to have children over the age of 2 in the clubs if they are still in pull-ups. I know some come here and say they have been the "exception" to the rule, but I tell people NEVER to count on that. SInce the rules state that the crew can not deal with Non-potty trainned children due to health and safety regulations, no one should count on people breaking the rules for them. Since your little one is under 3 AND not 100% potty independent; you are smart to have your nursery time reserved. Enjoy your cruise and know these "baby" days go by very quick and you will not have to worry of this concern for your next cruise.....:thumbsup2

I was wondering the same thing. My daughter is 2 and a half and is PTing right now. I hope to have her fully PT before we go and I have nursey time set up for her if she is not ready. So they do let parents come in to take the kids to the bathroom? I would hate for her to have an accident because she was too busy having fun!

Awsome, Thanks for the quick reply. Carnival did not let us go into the club. We had to take the kids out if we wanted to talk with them and ask how they were doing.

Slightly off topic, but how is the enter/exit procedure? My sons will be 7 and 3, and I am just wondering how they make sure the child is leaving with the proper adult. My 6-will be 7- year old would obviously know not to leave with a stranger, but who knows about the little one....
TIA

IIRC, they do it based on KTTW identification and a password that is set up at the beginning of the cruise. No password, no kiddo. I believe even if the kid comes to the exit and says "Mommy!/Daddy!/Brother!/Creepy-looking Uncle!", they will not release without a password.

Since I never looked in the kid's club bathrooms....are the toilets "child sized"? My son will be 3 the week after our cruise but is fully PT and will more than likely go to the club. However, he needs assistance getting up on top of the toilet if there is no stool and it's not a smaller one...

I think I read that adults are not allowed into the bathrooms that are located inside the club. ( I understand what the concern could be over that) but I am sure there are probably bathrooms outside the club they be taken to.

I think I saw child sized sinks, I would bet they probably have a lower toilet.

Yes, the ones in the club are small kiddo sized, while the ones in the lab are a little taller.
