puerto rico

We did a nice bus tour "on our own". As you leave the ship and walk towards the town, you will see many buses lined up. if you go to the left, and start walking, the further you get away from the ship, the cheaper the price! I got on one of the last bues and had a very nice 1 hour tour including a stop at one of the Forts. At the end of the tour, the driver gave us a choise of being dropped off near the shops, or back where we started. I got off at the shops, while DH and kids went back to the ship. It was a short walk back to the ship after I finished shopping.
My sister and her family did a snorkel tour with DCL. They were gone for most of the day and had a very nice time, but I remember it was pretty expensive (maybe $60/per person??)

When I lived in Puerto Rico several years ago, my folks visited and I took them here. We all thought it was great! I've got a funny photo of them standing next to a 12 foot Rum bottle.

Back then the tour itself was free and you were treated to a sampling of rum drinks before the tram left. It was a hoot to see my parents (who were 60ish) downing a couple of rum punches at 10 in the morning since I'd never seen them drink more than a beer or two in my life. After you see the plant, you are taken to the gift shop which had some good prices on Bacardi rum products. If you go, and see the Black label reserve rum, I suggest it as it is (or was) only available on the island.

There are some historical sights to see in Old San Juan which are nice. The major hotels do have casinos located in or near them for the gambling.

Enjoy your stop...wish I was going there. I miss the island sometimes.
