Pudge Controls the Weather-A Land and Sea TR Apr 6-Apr 15 ( Last Day new 5/26)

we've never done Palo for dinner or brunch. my goal is to go to Palo brunch on our next cruise!

I'm all caught up. I don't leave till tomorrow night so maybe (hint hint ;) ;) ) I'll get antoher installment before I leave.

We are really wanting to go on a Disney cruise soon and your review has made me want it so much more. We don't have a choice and have to do one in the next year (I took a new TA job that requires it, I've certainly had to do worse for job!) and this review has tipped me toward the Dream than any of the others.

Can't wait to read more.

Well .... I only have one more installment ... that I will post tomorrow. That is so exciting you are leaving tomorrow. YAY !! You definitely need to do a Disney Cruise. This was our first cruise ever .... and it was our best vacation ever.

We are definitely doing Palo again. We so enjoyed pour time there.

Oof, sorry you got sunburned! That's never fun.

I probably would have done the exact same thing! Sometimes our eyes are bigger than our stomachs! (Example: me and the brownie sundae at 50's Prime Time, ugh, hahah).

That souffle looks WONDERFUL. :lovestruc

Wow, Palo looks amazing!!! The antipasto would have been my downfall too, I can never stop picking at them!

Yep. The bread and the antipasti did me in. I will know better next time. Because I am so going back.

Yep. The sunburn sucked. Lots of peeling when I got home.

This is why DH and I always split stuff. I just ate too much. Actually the portions there weren't too big. But that antipasti plate was just too much for me.

The souffle was amazing. I wish I was able to have my own.

tick tock, tick tock. I leave work in less than 2 hours. :goodvibes

But we won't pull out of the driveway till about 10 and DH said he will try to drive at least an hour so I'll be able to check in later.

Have a good trip !! I can only post from my computer downstairs and the kid are on it right now. Sorry !!

That's totally weird about them not letting you on the Aquaduck due to "wind" conditions. How bizarre.

Dinner at Palo looks excellent. My mom said it was their best meal on their cruise.

It was weird. And it is completely enclosed, so I can't figure out what the wind has got to do with it. I smell man logic.

Palo was awesome. We plant to try Remy next time. So worth the upcharge. Lots of nice extra touches.

Disembarkation.

It is just a sad, sad word. We got up around 6:30 AM and began gathering our belongings. We looked outside and sure enough we were back at Port Canaveral

I popped down to Shutters to switch out some photos. When I got back, we got all of our carry on baggage together and set out for our last meal at Enchanted Garden.

For breakfast I ordered - For a Sweet Journey - buttermilk pancakes, blueberry pancakes, whole wheat pancakes, Belgium waffles (all served with honey or breakfast syrup) – I got buttermilk

They were OK. Edible, but nothing great. I’ve had worse and I’ve had better.

DH ordered - Eggs for the Road - scrambled fried or boiled and serve with hash browns and your choice of breakfast meat (bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham) He got fried eggs because the scrambled eggs the whole cruise were just not good. DS ate his hash browns

DH said the fried eggs were much better than the scrambled ones.

DS had the - Route 66 - scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham and hash browns
You didn’t get all of the meat, you chose one.

See those eggs ??? Nasty. Mushy runny and gross.

DD just wanted a croissant.

We took one last photo of DD.

And then we headed up to deck three and headed out. It was very hard to leave, but we got a porter and he carried all of our bags and found us the fastest line and really it didn’t take long at all. We walked across to the car and sadly headed home.

Closing thoughts.

I’ll will start with the negatives, so I end on positive note because I think that is important.

What I didn’t like – (not much really)

I guess the low points were Via Napoli and the odd smell in our stateroom bathroom and the breakfast food on the boat. Oh, and Disney coffee. It just isn’t good.

And those things weren’t even really all that bad. None of it ruined our trip at all. We just really had the best vacation ever.

What I would do differently on the cruise

I would get more photos taken.

I would try to get better excursions, like Dolphin swim, Atlantis, etc.

I would ride the Aquaduck more.

We would check out more things/activities at Castaway Cay.

I would NOT rent floats beforehand. We didn’t use them enough to warrant the two day rental.

I would have gotten a Konch Kooler.

I would have ordered room service for breakfast or the All Decks on Hand cheese plate in the afternoon.

See a Movie in the Buena Vista Theater.

Use more sunscreen.

Spend more time on deck.

Go to the buffet after the Pirate Show on Pirate night.

What I loved

Just about everything

Castaway Cay - seriously, this island is amazing.

Food - loved the food.

Getting waited on, hand and foot - I felt like I never had to do anything. Just relax. Which what a vacation ought to be. I did do laundry at the resort, but on the boat - I didn't have to do anything. It was awesome.

Well, I am sad my TR is finished. That means my trip is really over. Not just physically, but virtually as well. But don't you fret. I have another trip to Disney planned in June. Just 19 days. YAY !!:cool1::yay::dance3::cheer2:

Thanks to everyone for following along and stopping to say hello. I really enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones.

Peace out. :hippie:

I’m so sad your report is over. I loved reliving the trip through your eyes. I’m going on the magic in July for the 2 night weekend cruise so I will just have to wait till then to get my Disney fix.

Thanks for sharing your trip.

I'm sad to see your TR come to an end!!! I'm glad you guys had a wonderful trip!! Can't wait to hear all about the next one! :goodvibes

Thanks so much for reading and stopping to say hello. You will love your cruise, I am sure. It isn't too far away. Our next one is something like 460 days away, so I can't even really think about it much. You are going out of NY ??

Yes out of NY for 2 days with no kids but no Castaway Cay. I’m looking forward to seeing the ship in many new ways, adults only and sailing out of NY!! Should be fun even though it will be short!!

Were you able to snag a Palo reservation in advance, or did you do it once you got on board?

I've never been able to pull the trigger on a Palo ressie, I just enjoy the main dining rooms too much.

Now if I could have gotten a brunch reservation, now that's a different story...

Do you have a PTR started and/or do you plan to write a TR for your next Disney trip(s)?

I booked online pre-cruise.

Still thinking about it. We have three more trips this year and they are each 4-6 days a piece, so I might. I really enjoy writing them, but the family gets annoyed with all of the picture taking.

LOL, deja-vu. DH gives me endless grief about snapping pics of my food while on vacation... I just ignore him. I'm telling a story here, and there are people who LIKE my food pics.

How else can we live vicariously through each other's experiences without TR's? :)

Sorry your breakfast was just okay, but I have to say, I think it's just adorable how they put "See ya real soon" on the menus and it seemed like even the meals were named something that had to do with leaving. That's sad but precious!

I enjoyed reading all about your land and sea trip! It seemed like a wonderful one! Very exciting about your upcoming trip as well! Please make sure you let me know when (if) you start a TR! :goodvibes
