Pudge Controls the Weather-A Dining Report (Updated 9/1-Bfast at EG-Closing Thoughts)

Palo looks great! Especially that souffle!

I could see that burn must've hurt! I burn VERY easily so I'm pretty conscious of it when I'm planning on being in the sun. Unfortunately I'm not so attentive day to day and living in GA there is a lot of sun! Especially since my car is a golf cart!

Palo WAS great !! We really enjoyed our dinner there !!

It really did and I really got burnt bad. The weather was just so lovely that day, only about 72 degrees. Not hot at all, so I wasn't thinking. I usually have to use a lot of sunscreen, too since I am so fair. I do tan and once a get a good base tan, I'm fine. But this day was just an epic fail on the sunscreen for sure. I peeled like crazy when I got back home.

We live in SC, so I understand about lots of hot sun, for sure. I wish MY car was a golf cart. How fun !! Sounds like a good life to me !! I commute 30 minutes both ways to work. UGH !! I know it could be worse, but that is an hour total that I could be doing something productive. Sometimes, I do enjoy the time to myself and the peace and quiet.

I have to say with the gas prices now it's nice knowing we can get around town without the car!

I know what you mean, I easily spend $90 a week now on gas !! And I didn't realize it until now, but when I have my ankle surgery, my office has arranged it so I can work from home for a few weeks. And I will save that money by not having to buy gas!! YAY !!!

Hey thanks !! Yep. The ankle thing really sucks ....bad.

I bet you are soooo excited about your cruise. And you have a good itinerary, too !! We have a trip booked on the Fantasy for Thanksgiving 2013 and we can't wait.

Did you book any excursions ?? Any ressies for Palo ?? Is this your first DCL cruise ?? Tell me everything !!

This is DCL cruise #5 and cruise #6 total. I've done 2 4 night and a 3 night ($99 bounceback special!) and a 11 night Med in 2010. I'm doing Palo brunch, dinner, and Remy. Hoping to do one of the Remy lunches too! I have a parasailing booked on CC.

Absolutely cannot wait to get on the Fantasy! I find cruising is such a relaxing vacation. So sad they raised the single supplement though. :( May cut into being able to afford to cruise now.

I have a review started for the dining if you want to take a peek...I'm not a great writer but will try to get some pics!

That sounds like a fantastic trip !! I would so love to do the 11 night Med. How awesome was that one ??? I bet is was amazing !!

That does stink about the single supplement. You shouldn't have to pay MORE for just one person - what ?? :confused3

You need a cruising buddy ?? You just let me know !! LOL. My family would kill me if I went on a Disney cruise without them though !! :lmao:

I will follow your dining report. Can't wait to see your pics and read about your meals. So exciting for you !!

Thanks! The Med cruise was amazing. I booked on a great last minute (3 months out) deal...$999/adult for an inside and then I got upgraded to a Cat 5 veranda cabin. That year DCL went to Tunisia so I can count setting foot in Africa! I'd been to France and Italy before so it was nice to see new parts of Europe like Barcelona, Corsica, and Malta.

I could always use a cruise buddy!

Thanks for following my dining report. :) I can't believe I ended up with 2 trips 19 days apart. :)

Disembarkation.

It is just a sad, sad word. We got up around 6:30 AM and began gathering our belongings. We looked outside and sure enough we were back at Port Canaveral

I popped down to Shutters to switch out some photos. When I got back, we got all of our carry on baggage together and set out for our last meal at Enchanted Garden.

See Ya Real Soon Breakfast at Enchanted Garden

For breakfast I ordered - For a Sweet Journey - buttermilk pancakes, blueberry pancakes, whole wheat pancakes, Belgium waffles (all served with honey or breakfast syrup) – I got buttermilk

DSC03166.jpg

They were OK. Edible, but nothing great. I’ve had worse and I’ve had better.

DH ordered - Eggs for the Road - scrambled fried or boiled and serve with hash browns and your choice of breakfast meat (bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham) He got fried eggs because the scrambled eggs the whole cruise were just not good. DS ate his hash browns

DSC03167.jpg

DH said the fried eggs were much better than the scrambled ones.

DS had the - Route 66 - scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham and hash browns
You didn’t get all of the meat, you chose one.

See those eggs ??? Nasty. Mushy runny and gross.

DD just wanted a croissant.

I’m going to give this meal a Syndrome rating

It just wasn’t that good. Or maybe it was the fact that we were so depressed about having to leave the ship and go home.

Closing Thoughts

Collectively, as a family, we voted this trip The Best Vacation Ever !! Animal Kingdom Lodge was amazing and we so enjoyed the Dream and we can’t wait to go back and experience DCL again. All of the food was very good. The dinners especially were very enjoyable. This was our first cruise and since it was the great unknown, I was somewhat apprehensive about it. But there was no need to worry, everything was just fantastic. So, if you are on the fence about DCL, I say go !! You won’t regret it !!

Throughout our trip we enjoyed the best weather ever. Mid 70's during the day, low 60's at night. No humidity. Absolutely perfect !!!

Thanks for reading along. For those of you that stopped by to say hello, thank you so much for doing so. I appreciated all of your friendly comments and advice. Hope to all of you on my next Dining report.

Thanks !! I 'm so happy you stopped in to say hello !! See you in the next Dining Review !!

I was thinking of doing another Dining Review of our June trip which was a short one. It would only be 12 or 13 posts. We have six days before we leave and since I can't walk well at all, I stay home up in bed a lot. So I need something to do besides watch tennis on TV. :hyper:
