But they haven't said what it's going to be. We actually don't have publix here but I thought it might be useful info for more southern budget Dis'ers.

I wonder when they will announce it. I shop at Publix and utilize coupons all the time. I just wish places in FL doubled coupons.

Article said it would be 'rolled out over the next few weeks...' could they be LESS specific? :confused3

The way Publix is now, their policies for each store is different meaning at one Publix they will take Target coupons, while the one down the road won't. So they will make them all the same and the policy will be they will no longer accept competitors coupons UNLESS it is from an actual grocery store within a certain number of miles from that store (5 miles to be exact). So while many folks use Target, Walgreens, CVS coupons at Publix, they will no longer be allowed to do so. They are also limiting the number of coupons per transaction and the number of transactions per person.

Mine has limited the number of transactions per coupon and number of Bogo transactions for years. They also don't double coupons and there is no sneaking in coupons for stuff you didn't buy. If the coupon won't scan, the employee will look thru your bag for the exact item. No item, no using the coupon. Found that out by accident when I thought I'd bought something and turns out I forgot it so when I handed them the coupons, the coupon for that item I forgot was in the stack.

I don't know about them accepting Target or Walmart coupons. I know they'll accept Kroger ones.

It'll be interesting to find out what the changes are for my Publix, if any.

Well I know some Publix stores in other states except FL doubles them up to a certain amount. They will either eliminate altogether or add it for ALL stores. I can walk to my Publix so I stop there while out for my walks with my kids in the stroller. I buy only a few items at a time so limiting coupons or how many won't effect me. I just get more exercise and walk there once or twice a day if I have to. My kids enjoy these walks so I still have time with them. I can't wait to hear this policy. I want to save more Money for my Disney Cruise.

Since Kroger stores around here (in GA) double coupons, I think think Publix might lose some business if they stopped.

I just got home from a coupon trip to publix and was upset that the woman at the service counter told me there new policy starts tomorrow (05/23/2011).
I asked her exactly what would be changing and she said the #1 thing is that you can no longer use 2 coupons when buying a BOGO sale. If that is the case the savings would be drastically cut.
I dont know how reliable her facts are, when i checked out I asked the cashier and she said she had not heard that. Who knows :confused3

Today in our local newspaper there was an article saying that Publix will no longer be doubling coupons because of shows like TLC's extreme couponing.

I could have told you that was going to happen. All these "extreme couponers" are digging their own graves with going public

This could also be in response to Walmart recently putting-out some long-awaited claification on their own coupon policy (where they specifically mention no doubling of coupons).

Also interesting to note that Publix, unlike all their competitors, is 100% employee-owned (most of their competitors, such as WM, Target, Kroger, and Winn-Dixie are all publicly-held/stock companies).

I believe, with the hype surrounding the new Extreme Couponing show on TLC and the increase in the use of coupons due to it, we will start seeing a huge change in store policies regarding coupons across the board.

There are no stores here that double. One store will a few times a year but they are always out of the sale items so I never go there. Our area does not get a bunch of coupons in the Sunday paper either so I never have really been able to get into the couponing like other have.

It will be interesting to see what happens to all store's coupon policies in the near future.

That is not true. You can still use one coupon per item. They have copies of the policy you just have to ask for one. They biggest difference is the compeiters coupons are only grocery stores and you are limited to 4 ( I believe, might be 5) BOGO's

At the store I shop Big Y when it is BOGO you can only use one coupon not two they say you are only buying one so only one coupon applies.

I am holding a copy of the coupon policy I just got on friday. The only difference I see is that they will no longer accept coupons from certain stores unless it is for pharmacy items. I.E. - target, CVS, Walgreens etc. They list the stores they consider competitors (I am sure this varies by region).

My Publix doubles up to 50c and there is no wording on the policy about this at all. I guess I will just have to see next week.
