Hi all :wave2:

I hope this is the right board - I was figuring you guys will know your supermarkets!

I am tempted to go to the Publix near Gaylord Palms on our arrival day. (I know that this plus cab fair would make garden grocer cheaper - but I just LOVE US supermarkets!!

We're staying at AKL so I think this is our closest options for cabs.

2 questions:

Any idea what a cab will cost us each way?

Is it a big store? Do they do Disney clothing and merchandise also? Or is it just food?

I think that because you are staying at AKL there is a Publix on hiway 192 that would be closer. Just have the cab driver take Sherberth Rd. to 192 and take a right and the Publix is only a mile or so. I can't tell you if they have any Disney stuff there though, sorry. Have a great trip! :)

Thank you. :teeth:

I've been to both Publix stores and they had a section of Disney themed merchandise. It wasn't huge, mostly towels, keychains, knick-knack type stuff. I agree that the one located on 192 is closer though; that should help reduce your cabfare. :wizard:

Thank you too!! Oooh how exciting! I can't wait to get stocked up woth twinkies and mountain dew!!

Well you have a few choices. I personally think the one on international/192 (gayloard palms) is closer than the other one on the west end of 192. However the one located on 192/535 has a larger selection of disney merchandise.

On the upside, there is a brand new super target right across the street from the west 192 publix. I'm sure they'll have a large selection of disney stuff. However I've never been in that store. And the easiest way to get there is to take sherbeth road south, and hang a right on black lake road, which runs parralel to 192 and ends at the target, or just slightly short of it.

Okay, sorry, but this made me laugh! :rotfl:
I am addicted to Diet Dew (aka diet mtn dew) and I do miss it immensely while at WDW because WDW is a pepsi free property. but with all of the other unique and cool snack items, it just cracks me up that you want twinkies and Dew. :confused3 How 'bout the mickey ice cream bars or dole whips, or the bakery shop stuff?
I guess they don't sell twinkies in the UK? :confused3
I do hope you have a wonderful trip. And enjoy your twinkies and Dew! ;)

It would be quicker to turn off Sherbert onto Black Lake Road and make a right onto 192 at the end of Black Lake. You'll miss a lot of the 192 traffic. The Publix is on East Orange Lake Blvd, with a brand-new Target right across the street.

Nope, no twinkies or Mountain Dew in the UK :sad2: Don't worry, we have 2 weeks so plenty of Dole WHips and Mickey bars will be consumed also!!

Oooh, thank you! Target sounds good! So is this the same Publix that also has the Walgreens across from it?

There is a grocery store near the Gaylord but I'm not sure what it's called. They will call you a cab and I think the charge is $5 if they take you down the street and drop you off at the store. Literally it's down the street and across the highway but no way would I walk. We walked around and found lots of nice Disney merchandise in the stores, ate at the Denny's and then went to the grocery. Called a cab to go back to the Gaylord.

The Gaylord is big and beautiful, don't get lost in their atrium! LOL

That is a Publix -- definitely the closest one. Just down the road, I think it's International Drive, and no need to go out onto any major roads.
