PTR/TR - An Aussie tribe’s American Adventure Dec 9 2010 – Jan 23 2011

I am sitting here with my colleague in our huge 2 bedroom apartment, surfing the internet and chatting about family.

The day started off in the typical chaotic manner with breakfast, haircuts, Church, lunch, shopping, packing and continual attempts to restore the house into some sort of order. Malcolm was luckily only called in twice. His parents also came to save the day taking the children out in the afternoon for some last minute pampering before we leave.

I was glad when my colleague came to pick me up for our trip up north. We were dropped off at work where the bus was waiting to take us to the Hunter Valley. It was surprising huge and luxurious with reclining soft leather seats and flat-screen TVs. Before long, the snacks were handed out and a movie started to ease our journey. I had not seen any movies for a while and so was glad of the opportunity to watch ANY that was on offer. Killers with Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl was rather entertaining and we reached the Crowne Plaza for check-in in no time.

I was delighted to the welcoming sight of a King bed with an ensuite and TV. This is on top of the generous living space complete with a kitchen. Dinner was a relaxing affair at the hotel restaurant. Ah...one really should go to work meetings more often! It is a pity that I don't drink alcohol considering we're in wine country and the alcohol appears to be flowing freely.

We have a 930 start tomorrow morning so I will be able to sleep in before enjoying my most favourite part of any hotel stay...the buffet breakfast!

Oh. And the rest of our WDW itinerary has been emailed out. Yippee!

Next...Not So Happy After The Hunter

I never realised you had such a comprehensive PTR!!!! :woohoo:
I'll read it when I get a chance :-)
I do confess to being a big fan of the buffet breakfast.
Especially Aussie ones which include Bacon....real bacon :lmao:

Shushh...King Bed, TV, Buffet breakfast and bacon aside....how's the wine?

3 days to go!!

The past 48 hours have been crazy! In short, major changes had to be made to our house plans by today and our to-do list for our trip appear to have increased exponentially. Co-ordinating all this remotely from the Hunter Valley was not easy, and emailing/going over plans discreetly during a work meeting was stressful! On my return at 6pm, we reviewed the latest version from the architect but it still wasn't quite right so Malcolm went ahead to Lara's recital whilst I visited the architect. He joined us after the recital and it was a productive meeting with good results by 930pm. I got home at 10, scoffed down some dinner and went to sleep.

I just have to get through today's work day and then I can start all the final preparations for our trip. Malcolm, the lucky duck, reminded me last night that his holiday had started. He has today off. Well, can't believe we'll be flying out in just over 24 hours!

Be safe and hopefully we'll see you this weekend! (Let me know if you want me to bring the infant sling)

Hi Queenie! I don't know what it is about hotel buffet breakfasts. I get excited when I think about it. The buffet at the Crowne Plaza was ptretty good. They had bacon cooked two ways. Nice and crispy along withfat and non-crispy variety. They also had made to order eggs, as well as a sweet specialty everyday. On the first day, it was banana and butterscotch pancakes. On the second, I had the waffle with berry compote and maple syrup. On top of all that and the usual buffet spread, we got espresso type coffee too. Yum....

Oh and enjoy my ravings...

Princess, the sad thing is that I don't drink! I get asthma when I do. Of course, I then proceeded to win 2 bottles of wine!

The meeting if not for the "other" distractions was great! Fun and highly productive.

Thanks Jen! Don't worry about the sling. I don't think I could carry Jonah for too long.

We'll be at MK on Dec 10. On Dec11, we'll be at Epcot and then MK for the afternoon. We just might see you at the parks! Have fun at the MVMCP on Friday. I was surprised to see such big swings in temp in Orlando.

My daughters and I followed your Med cruise blog, and they are so jealous that you get a 6 week vacation.

We look forward to following your trip report and want to wish you a safe trip and a wonderful holiday.

If my memory serves me correctly, tomorrow you are on your way! Must say I am feeling rather envious. Have an awesome time.

Thank you for your well wishes! I can't believe the day has arrived. We are doing some last minute checking then we'll load the car and head off to pick up FIL who will drive us to the airport.

I will probably only have time to blog so will most likely post links to blogs as I post them.

Bye everyone!!!

Shushh - Safe travels. Have a fabulous time and I'm sure all the planning will have paid off!

Glad to see that you've arrived safely. Hope that POR lives up to expectations. We loved our stay there and I hope you do too.

Next blog post is up!We are here!

We have been on the go for days and this is the first opportunity I've had to catch up as this is the first night the kids are in bed before 8pm! My horizontal photos have their right edge chopped off but I'm too tired to fix it. Too many photos and no time to go through them all so just picking some to post quickly.

Yay, another post. I have been stalking your blog for an update.

You did well to get to such an early ADR on your first day. Sorry to hear about your friends Dad.

So, you must be in New York now. I hope it is all you imagined it would be.
