So I'm new to this whole PTR/TR thing and I have a few questions. Hopefully all you experts out there can help me.

1) How early do most people start a PTR? We are going in February and don't want to start something for no one to remember it when the trip comes around.

2) Is it more common to do a live TR or do one after the trip is over?

3) If you do it after the trip is over how do you remember all the small details that tend to not stand out in your mind as well?

4) How do you embed the pictures into the thread? (I read it somewhere on here but for the life of me can't find it again and it confused me anyhow. Keep in mind, I may have mouse brown hair, but I'm a blonde deep down :rotfl2:)

5) What type of pictures do you guys normally take? Its been like 10 years since I have been to DLR and I have never been to California Adventures so I have no idea what to expect there.

6) It appears that you guys love your food porn pics so if someone can give me tips on how to make it look nice that would be awesome! (perhaps I should post this question on the photography section also?)

Thanks in advance guys! :worship:

HAHA, I am a self-proclaimed PTR/TR master (or maybe just "nut"). :lmao: Here's my take on them:

So I'm new to this whole PTR/TR thing and I have a few questions. Hopefully all you experts out there can help me.

1) How early do most people start a PTR? We are going in February and don't want to start something for no one to remember it when the trip comes around.

It really depends on what you want. Some people do a quick one just days before leaving, others do months and include everyone in the planning process. When it comes to my own never-ending TR that has become so much more I opt for the months part and everyone is included and updated over the whole process as we're always talking about something. I announced my plans as soon as I had them (was almost a year beforehand!!) and then started writing the actual official report posts when I hit 100 days out.

2) Is it more common to do a live TR or do one after the trip is over?

What I find most common is maybe a few live updates to give a small taste and leave everyone wanting more, compiling an actual in depth report after returning home. This is how I like to do mine.

3) If you do it after the trip is over how do you remember all the small details that tend to not stand out in your mind as well?

Going through your photos does a lot to jog your menu if you look at them in the order they were taken and the timestamps as well. I also usually jot a couple of notes down either when I get to the hotel at night or on that days map & entertainment schedule as I have a brand new one every day.

4) How do you embed the pictures into the thread? (I read it somewhere on here but for the life of me can't find it again and it confused me anyhow. Keep in mind, I may have mouse brown hair, but I'm a blonde deep down :rotfl2:)

First you need to have them uploaded to an image host like Photobucket who will automatically give you the codes. I use Flickr for mine and just copy the URL for the photo I need and then just put [*IMG][/IMG] around it, removing the asterisk. When you are writing your post too, there's a little icon above the text box of a small photo with what looks like mountains in it. If you click that it will ask you for the image URL and post the code automatically for you.

5) What type of pictures do you guys normally take? Its been like 10 years since I have been to DLR and I have never been to California Adventures so I have no idea what to expect there.

Me? I take photos of everything. And I do mean everything!! From attractions to signs, to characters and more. One of everyone's favorites is always food porn though! Gotta love it.

6) It appears that you guys love your food porn pics so if someone can give me tips on how to make it look nice that would be awesome! (perhaps I should post this question on the photography section also?)

Hehe. Great minds think alike I see! I haven't used a P&S to do my food porn photos, but the only tip I can really think of is that I usually try to leave flash off on anything that has a plate since it will just reflect back at you! That and just remember to let your camera focus and if you have a close-up or macro setting, that will probably be your best bet.

One more question I thought of. I think im going to start my PTR nice and early cuz I am such a planner when it comes to big trips. On to my question though...

Where are you supposed to put the PTR at? In the TR section or in the main DLR section?

P.S. Thanks Belle Ella for your quick response

:goodvibes You are very welcome. I love everything about TR's. Always nice when my little addiction (because it is) can turn out a little advice!

Here's where you'll want to go for PTR's and TR's: Disneyland Trip Reports

Take a peek around to see how everyone sets theirs up. We all have our own little style and method to it. It's so fun to see everyone's takes on it, which is what makes them all so interesting to read.

Ha ha I think i can see why TR's are your addiction. Helps you relieve the trip and just looks like plain fun to make. So now all I need to do is get a catchy title.... Hmmm.... Wonder how much it would cost to buy one... :confused3

Good news is - you can always chenge 'em ;) Mine have gone through so many renamings the poor things have probably gotten very confused!

I think I will head to the farmer's market and then promptly come back here and begin a PTR. I think I will try figure out how to link it to this thread so that people can see both the question I have/had and how its coming so far.

Now I wanna go to my mom's and dig out our old DLR pics again and scan them lol. Just looked at them a couple weeks ago, crazy how huge things looked as a little girl and the different styles we wore then... I don't know who came up with the one piece outfits from the early to mid 90s but wow did they look horrible! :rotfl: I hope that I when I start buying clothes for my son I keep those pictures in mind and pick out things that aren't too "trendy" Lol! :rotfl2:
