PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

Sorry to hear you're cancelling yet again.:grouphug: I agree it wouldn't be a fun trip unless Fran really wanted to go too.

I do think the cruise will be a good test run trip so you both can get some pampering and relaxing time in. We'll all be praying that nothing gets in the way of this trip.

I'm sorry to hear that your canceling your trip to WDW in October. I also agree that it wouldn't be fun when she is not doing well. Hopefully she will be all better during your cruise trip later this year.

She probably wants to make sure that she is better.:grouphug:

She just really wants to be able to enjoy it too. She hasn't really enjoyed anything recently because of her pain levels so I shouldn't drag her anywhere just to be in pain.

I told her too, that I want a couple days (at first I wanted to go somewhere) of doing nothing at home. Eating out, not sure how the cats will get fed.... :rolleyes1, no dishes, DISing if I want, not having to ship packages, sleeping in.....

We're hoping the wounds heal up in 2-4 weeks and she can start back on the arthritis drugs, so we'll see.

Sounds very reasonable to me!:goodvibes

I'm sorry you are canceling again, how sad. I have to agree, if she is in too much pain to enjoy a trip it probably wouldn't turn out to be a happy trip anyway. I'm glad you have the cruise to look forward to. I hope you are able to get your wanted days of rest, very important to recharge.

Alison, I'm so sorry you have to cancel your trip. But I think the cruise will be a good test run because you can do as much or as little as you want and it doesn't have to be a hectic trip. Then see how it goes. I will keep you and Fran in my thoughts and prayers that she gets better and better, and that you have a wonderful, relaxing cruise. Think calm sea, spa, relaxation, and just spending time together.

Yeah, and I'm going to cash in on that one very soon! Like maybe shortly after you and I meet up!

Yeah, I know. It's hard enough to endure daily life around this house with her in pain. I can't even imagine doing it without her electric lift chair, the cats and the other aids that she has around the house to make her life easier. Last long trip we rented one of those chairs for her, and we looked into it for the last trip, but she said it was going to be too much money. I think I will get one for her for the next trip though.

I just realized, I hope there are some chairs in our stateroom that are high enough for her to sit in comfortably. Most recliners are like quicksand for her. She has an electric recliner lift chair in each of our "living rooms" at home and besides her Executive desk chair (set at the highest setting) those are about the only chairs she can use in our house. Everything else is too low that she needs to be pulled up out of it! I hope this isn't a "whole nother nightmare" in our stateroom!

Alison - I'm so sorry.

Thanks, I'll live, besides I'm getting used to it. At least this time holding points aren't involved! ;)

Well, I do have to say, I'm getting really good at this booking, rebooking and rebooking.....

I now have a whole new trip planned for January 28-February 7 2013!

It's almost the same as the F&W trip, but totally different, in fact it very much resembles the trip that we planned with Arline except that we haven't really made any dinner reservations, other than I made two for 'Ohana because I love that place so much and wanted to make sure we got in there at least once. I will cancel one of them, but I didn't want to miss out on going there, so I made two just in case! :thumbsup2

So here's the flight and accomodation details:

Monday, January 28, 2013

Leave LAX on our preffered non-stop flight to MCO 8:25AM departure, arrive 4:00PM. We'll get a rental car since we are starting the trip at IOA for WWoHP and staying at the Loew's Royal Pacific Hotel. Now Fran doesn't know this, but there were no standard rooms available for our two night stay. Now mind you, I paid for the first night back in January of 2011 when we FIRST booked this trip. I paid for a $40 upgrade when I rebooked in Oct 2011 since they only had Water View Rooms. Well this time they only had CL rooms available! :rotfl2: So today I paid another $40. It will cost us another $400 or so when we check in/out for the final night and Valet parking, but I figure that's interest on how long we've been delaying this trip. Besides, I don't think I will mind staying at Club level and she will just have to get over it! Depending on what they have, we may not need to have dinner at a restaurant, we might be OK grazing at the CL.

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

This will be our day for WWoHP and to relax, I want to have lunch at the three broomsticks. I have to cancel and rebook Emeril's Tchoup Tchoup for dinner, but I definitely want to eat there!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

We'll move over to the AKL this day, but probably if we have the energy we still have another day on our IOA passes, so we might go back into the park and shop/ride. Who am I kidding? Fran will want to go back and shop! I'm not sure what we'll do for dinner, I know I WANT to eat at Sanaa, but Fran probably doesn't, she's going to have to give in at some point. It's not clear if we will keep the rental car or turn it in, but I'm sure excessive grocery shopping will be in order.

Thursday, January 31 - Monday February 4, 2013

From here on out, I am wide open for planning, we are booked at the AKL in Kidani a 1 bedroom Savanna View. I want to do the culinary tour, as I said I want to eat at Sanaa. I want to get some Zebra Domes at the Mara and view a lot of animals. Other than that, I have no plans as of yet.

Monday, February 4 - Thursday February 7, 2013

We have these three nights in a BLT MK view one bedroom. I have the Sunday night waitlisted, and if it comes through we have four nights in each resort after two nights at US/IOA. I booked 'Ohana for one night before Wishes and one night after Wishes because Fran was asleep and I didn't want to ask her which one we should do, so I just booked one of each for two different nights. I couldn't get a CA Grill reservation any of our nights here, so I just need to keep trying.

We do have our "normal" 1PM Direct Flight back to LAX on the 7th, and we were able to use the flights from the October trip for this trip since we are completing travel before February 18th. I love our AA miles. It's so nice to fly First class and not have to pay for it! Thank Goodness that at least when Fran spends her gobs of money she gets credit for it! :lmao:

I'm not sure how much eating out vs cooking in the room we want to do on this trip. Cooking in the room is definitely more relaxing because it is more like our home life. If I run her around the parks, it's much better to bring her back to the room and let her snooze like she is doing right now. If I try to make her go out to dinner, then we lose time in the parks, she is sort of like an infant. Definitely needs her nap time or she gets cranky! :rotfl2: The more she does, the more naps she needs, so it's a delicate balance. At least if I am cooking while sitting in the room, I have something to keep me occupied while I'm writing the TR. If I'm just waiting to go out to dinner, I'm constantly in a battle of....

"Honey wake up....."

"I am, I am!"

10 minutes later

"Honey wake up....."

"I am, I am!"

10 minutes later

"Honey wake up....."

"I am, I am!"

10 minutes later

"Honey wake up....."

"I am, I am!"

I think you get the picture.....and by the point of the reservation we are at least 10 minutes late because I have started this process about an hour before we have to be at the restaurant.

So while we don't have "plans" at least we have transporation to and from Florida and places to sleep. The rest will have to come together as we talk and figure it out. I KNOW she wants to see Fantasmic via Hollywood Brown Derby Priority Seating, but other than that not quire sure what else. I know I want to make it to Epcot for the Karamel Kuche! I think I want lunch at Chefs de France and I know I want to eat a Via Napoli. Other than that, perhaps we should do some dinners in the room, I mean come on, a MK view and Savannah View, we have the rooms to hang out and relax, I think we need it!

Nice start on the January trip planning will all keep our fingers crossed for this one.

Nice looking plans.

Yes, CL is definitely overdue in interest....and then some!

Hey I figure that our original hotel room was something like $240. I paid that in Jan 11, then I paid $40 in Oct 11, then I paid another $40 tonight. So by the time we check in 2 nights of CL will be $358 + tax. Not to bad since we already paid for everything else long ago!

Nice start on the January trip planning will all keep our fingers crossed for this one.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed for the cruise. I took out insurance, but I can't see why she wouldn't go, i have her by the preverbial balls! :rotfl: We have insurance, but it's paid for now!

Thank you! Once we get some insurance for it we'll take it out for a spin. We are planning on going to a car club outing at the end of September and taking it with us. I will have to pack light as there isn't much space!

That sounds like fun and exciting too. The weather should be perfect then.

I'm glad he could appreciate it. Fran is looking for some of the under the hood pictures on the dealer's website. It has a 2004 Corvette engine, if that helps any. Mac always comes out to see what the excitement is about!

Hey, since your DH did restoration, does he know anyone in the LA/OC area he could recommend. We have a 70 Cougar, a 73 Cougar and a 63 Lincoln that used to be taken care of by a friend of ours who passed away last Fall, so now we don't have a mechanic to take care of our classic cars. He did the interior/exterior of the Lincoln, and the completely remodeled the 70 Cougar. The Lincoln needs some transmission work and we don't know who to go to.

I'll see if I can find some pics.

OMG a Corvette engine! :thumbsup2 What an awesome car you two found.

I read the above to DH and he just about died with that engine in it. If we are able to do Disneyland next spring he just might pay you guys to let him see it in person. :rotfl2: He LOVES classic cars!

He is going to make a couple phone calls tomorrow for a mechanic in your area. My husband did all the work on the cars he restored. However our vehicles go into the shop when needed. Just too many changes with the electronics and needing specialized equipment and tools for the newer models. I will PM you with the information he comes up with. He said to thank you both for looking for a picture of the engine.

I am so sorry that you have to cancel yet another trip to WDW. :( But I agree with you that it wouldn't be any fun if Fran is still feeling so terrible. I looks like you are in the planning stage of a new trip for next year as well as your cruise this fall. The cruise should be perfect for you both, no moving around resorts, doing as much as you want each day. Fran can nap when she likes and you can be enjoying the ship as you would only be five minutes away if she needed you.

She just really wants to be able to enjoy it too. She hasn't really enjoyed anything recently because of her pain levels so I shouldn't drag her anywhere just to be in pain.

That is super and a very reasonable request. You have been through so much and seem to be constantly running, working, cooking, driving, organizing as well as taking care of Fran. :faint: It makes me tired just typing it all out and I know we only know part of what all you do.

Ann

You all know about her leg and the problems that it has been giving us. We have about 10 days to make up our minds about going or not. I talked to her today and she asked "How bad do you want to go to THIS F&W?"

Well I want to go pretty bad, but if you've heard me hmmm and haw on the other threads, I don't want to make her go when she's miserable. She agreed that we could go in January/Feb. We can still use our same airfare without penalty and I checked and have already reserved four nights at the AKV and the next four nights are available at the WL and BLT with a MK view!

The problem is that I have to cancel my October trip to have enough points to book. Besides, I need to use my banked BCV and VWL points towards this trip anyways since I can't bank them any further. I need all the BCV points that I can bank into 2013 for our gamers meet so that both PIO (and her family) and Fran and I can stay at BCV.

That means that the cruise would be our next trip. I have errands to run so I'm not going to cancel anything just yet, but probably by tomorrow I will have a whole new trip in the works, yet again.

At least I have almost finished the first installment of my Cruise PTR!

Alison, I am so sorry!

:worried:

 I'm sorry you're having to postpone but your preliminary Jan plans look great! :thumbsup2 Sending healing vibes to you both. :goodvibes

You have definitely become the master of rebooking. The plans look great. I mean, it's not like it's your fault the travel gods only had CL rooms available, what a bonus!

I hope the stateroom chairs will work out.

Woah. That car is sick!!!!:hyper:

Also, i'm so sorry you had to revise your plans again. I know you said that your next trip is the cruise, but what is the likeliness that you'll be going? I'm REALLY hoping you'll be able to do this!

Ann

I'll be posting pictures of the engine soon. I don't think she has any idea of how much work she puts me through. I definitely want those days off. I'm tired already and I just woke up!

Alison, I am so sorry!

:worried:

Well, nothing can be worse than the six years we went without a vacation and were taking care of her mother in nursing homes. I figure if I survived that, I can survive this.

 I'm sorry you're having to postpone but your preliminary Jan plans look great! :thumbsup2 Sending healing vibes to you both. :goodvibes

I don't need healing, just relaxing vibes! :lmao:

I just have to figure out dining now!

I sure hope we can! There is no plane involved and we don't get our money back if we cancel so I bet she will do it.

I hope you didn't miss the link to my PTR for the cruise....

I thought I had read something about the California Grill closing for a refurb, so just checked. Unfortunately they'll be closed 1/6 through summer 2013.
