Pteranadon flyers only for children?

When i walked past Pteranadon flyers, there were people standing outside the line area & a CM was outside with what looked to be a measruing stick of some sorts.

Is this ride strictly for kids only? It looks like a fun ride to go on.

just curious if it's only a kids ride & if it is, then shouldn't Dr. Seuss trolley ride also be?

Yup, you need a child to ride with. The hubby and I went to IOA/US before we had kids years ago and were so bummed about that. But now that we have kids, we can ride It's so fun too!

It's also a ride does that does not have FOTL, so arrive early, cause you will be waiting!

Yup, you need a child to ride with. The hubby and I went to IOA/US before we had kids years ago and were so bummed about that. But now that we have kids, we can ride It's so fun too!

if you get there early, as in when the park opens, you don't have to have a little with you to ride it.

i went 3 mornings by myself and was allowed to ride it.
the TM said as long as there was not a line, adults could ride.
once the lines started, then you needed a kidlet with you to ride.

We were turned away from Pteradon flyers on Friday morning. We were in the park at 9:00, there was no one on the ride and my small (and roller-coaster wary) 10 year old and I were not allowed to ride the Pteradon flyer because she was about 1 inch too tall. She offered to take her shoes off, but the attendant said it wouldn't matter. I can understand trying to limit older children when there is a long line, but literally no one was in line. She was terribly dissapointed as it was too early to ride the wet rides--didn't want to slosh around all morning, and she was waiting for her older siblings to get off of the Hulk and Dr. Doom. We are AP holders and have never been turned away from Pterdon flyers before.

Before my son was born almost 7 years ago we never rode due to the restriction. When he turned 4 I rode with him since he was old enough. Then Feb. 2008 we made a trip durring Mardi Gras and to our surprise we say adults riding. So our whole party me, DW, DS, DW brother, DW brother friend all rode a couple of times. We never questioned it. Now its been since then hit or miss with the height restriction. If you are walking threw JP and notice the people overhead on the ride are only kids accompanied by adults than all bets are off.

That's so good to know.

'Cause when we were there when one of my children was below the stick height, we sent our other tall child with him so that she could ride.

Now, they're both tall and we adults have never been on it.

We had a very similar experience earlier this month. The TM turned my wife and 8 yr. old daughter away (early in the morning too). I felt bad for my daughter because she was turned away from her three favorite rides at IOA back-to-back-to back (Storm Force didn't open until 10am, Spidey was down and then she couldn't ride the Flyers). It definitely was not a good start to the day. Funny thing is, she eventually got to ride all of the above mentioned rides (including the Flyers ) and this particular visit ended up being one of the funnest days we have ever spent at the park!

I do not understand! The rules are right there. If you get to ride when you should not then you got a bonus. If you did not get to ride then that is the rules. And they should bend the rules for you WHY?

I suppose there will always be those that would complain if you hung them with a new rope

If there is no line what is the big deal and its not like anyone is bending the rules.
Beside what is the ride 80 to 90 seconds and its not like taking an under sized child on the hulk

Actually they are BENDING the rules to let too tall people unaccompanied by a shorty to ride. Once someone sees the too tall only people riding they why are they not "entitled" to ride as well. And why not all day long. Seems to me it is best to follow the rules to avoid a lot of aggravation. The line for this ride with legitimate riders can exceed the wait time for the coasters at times. Once you step outside the rules then you are playing favorites and that usually leads to problems
