I have been reading all the messages for few weeks now and have not seen/missed theis questions. So if you can answer them for me I would be thankfull.

1) Can you make res. for a WDW stay at a DVC only 4 weeks out from when you want to go/stay.

2)If so how hard is it to do. ( I understand it depends on your personall pickeyness for location, roomview, size and group size)

3) Does DVC have a time(under 4 weeks,or ?) when you use less points for a stay if you make res. closer to the time you want to go?
If I make res. for a stay with my current timeshare it only costs me 1/2 points of the usual stay. Ex 8 days in June 2004 at Cypress Point Orlando is usually 8000 points, but I used 4000 cause I called under 30 days from when I went down to WDW.

4) Do you allways have to plan at the 11 or 7 month out time out from your stay to get the res you need/want?

5) Any place I can do a point to point use comparision on different timeshare companies/DVC/others? Online?

I am only asking 'cause I am thinking DVC might be a good thing for me.... us I meant....and I am have 3 weeks of another timeshare. Never had problems using/saving/booking res. at any of there places. But am currently having a prob.with a booking done with II to stay onsite WDW. So looking into DVC.

Also saw on this site that a stay at HH in Dec. can be a cheap as 6 point a nite!!! Wow, that is only about an hour for us and I would rather go in Dec then summer!

As usuall, Please and Thank You! ( Quess who watches to much Disney TV !?!)

Hi!

I know some of the answers, and others should be adding comments.

1. and 2. You can try to make a ressie within a month of the visit, but it does depend on what you want and when you are going. It seems as if Oct. was booked months in advance. We were able to get a studio for Oct. 2-4 in August, but OKW was the only resort with studio availablity at that time. There are also special activities like marathons that are popular with DVCers and so you may think that you'll get in at the last minute and then be disappointed.

3. There is no discount of points for last minute ressies.

4. I've heard that certain accomodations like HH during certain summer months are almost impossible to get, but then someone comes on the boards to say "My waitlist came through!" Of the 8 ressies that I've made so far, we're relatively new, 4 have been made right at the 11 or 7 month window and the other 4 have been made closer to the visit.

Good for you that you can enjoy the winter months at HH! We have a home in Cape May NJ and I agree that going there off season has special charms.

Just wondering, have you made a Disney Quilt? If I ever do learn how to make a quilt, that would be my goal.

1) Can you make res. for a WDW stay at a DVC only 4 weeks out from when you want to go/stay.
Yes, subject of course to availability. In fact you can even make a reservation and check in on the same day.

2)If so how hard is it to do. ( I understand it depends on your personall pickeyness for location, roomview, size and group size)
It all depends on availability. The more popular a resort is or the more popular the time of year the more or less difficult it will be. At 60 days some rooms due tend to free up because people who had reservations and can't use them will have to cancel the reservation earlier or else their points will go into the holding account.

No, points costs is the same no matter when you make the reservation.

4) Do you allways have to plan at the 11 or 7 month out time out from your stay to get the res you need/want?
No, again it all depends on when you want to go. If you want New Year's eve at BWV then yes, but if you want HH during the winter, then no.

5) Any place I can do a point to point use comparision on different timeshare companies/DVC/others? Online?
Don't know of any online charts. For comparison you can say Hilton is about 11 to 13 points or so to 1 DVC point, and Hyatt is about 5 or so points to 1 DVC point.

If you don't have a DVC point chart, feel free to download my DVC-Chart program. It has charts for all resorts through the year 2054. You can also download the DVC-Planner program if you want to do any in-depth planning such as comparing point costs between resorts and accommodations for any given vacation. "Subject to availability." You're always competing (so to speak) with fellow DVC members for the same fixed number of rooms. One of the busiest periods is the time from October to December (Halloween, Food & Wine Fest, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's). Based upon posts I've read here, there is virtually no availability for those three months as of right now.

Months like January, early-February, early-May and September are not nearly as busy. Those time periods you could most certainly get a room somewhere on short notice, and there are probably other times as well.

Some people do, others do not. There are times of the year when you must (again, October to December, as well as the Spring Break / Easter periods)...other times rooms can often be found on short notice.

This web site has a point calculator which will tell you values for the DVC resorts. Beyond that, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.

Not surprising. I've heard trades are possible during some of the lower seasons, but not NEARLY as easy as trading into other locations, nor as easy as competing timeshare salesmen portray it to be.
