What's the scoop on her? My gf is paying 1000.00 to attend one of Sylvia "salons", a group of about 40 people where she discusses spiritual matters and answers your personal questions at the end. I'm worried my gf is wasting her money, but she swears that Sylvia is the real deal and cites all these predictions she supposedly made that came true. I tell her she watches too much Montel, but she's convinced that she's going to get answers to questions about family members that have passed on. :earseek: Is there any such thing as a real psychic? Sylvia's Browne track record seems impressive, but I dont' know much else about her.

I think you already answered your own question about whether she was real or not when you included the word psychic before her name. :rotfl:

ITA..

40 people, $1000 each... I'm in the wrong business! :rotfl:

I agree, I can pull info out of people and then asertain the obvious to tell them for $40,000

No. I remember one point during the Clinton administration, when she predicted the stock market would fall, and of course it soared. I lost a lot on that one (j/k).

She told Montel he was going to be a big movie star one year...and that was a couple years ago. :rolleyes1

She also predicted that OJ was going to be found guilty after he was "proven" innocent! Still waiting on that one!

She's nothing but a ........

Scratch

Yes she is real. People have different talents what they can do. Some can see into the future so can't not.

Psychic yes some be crooks to. You have sense humor see as entainment.

I look at this way some people spend money, going WDW, gambling, drinking and smoking some like go Psychic fairs.

I went and seen her last tuesday, But i didn't pay 1,000 , My dd and i paid 75.00 each and was it worth it, Yes, very entertaining and she answered over 50 peoples questions and one of my dd questions too, I like Sylvia browne and i would pay that, if i had the money .Half of her money for all these goes to Montels MS foundation.

Psychics are fakes/frauds/charlatans. None of them can see into the future -- none of them can contact the dead -- none of them can read your pet's mind. It is, as one poster has rightly pointed out, simply a matter of reading the behaviour of people and ascertaining what they want to hear.

There is a $1 million prize outstanding for any psychic or magician who can prove they are real -- none have claimed the prize.

Whether it's $75 or $1000 -- it's a heck of a lot to pay for entertainment and even more to pay so Sylvia Browne can get a charitable donation receipt for giving your money away.

Of course, they're all frauds which is why many police departments use their help. The police is regularly in the habit of using frauds.

That said, I believe in some psychic ability but I don't know about Sylvia Browne.

Personally, I do not believe she is real. I don't believe in psychics or telling the future. It's not my thing...

I think she is soooo rude sometimes to people... :rotfl:

as for psychic :confused3 but at least part of the $$ goes to charity so everybody gains from the experience :goodvibes

I was always told a TRUE psychic won't take $$ for their services..It's some written code of honor..that they can NOT charge for their abilities.. too bad noone listens to it though because everyone is out to make a buck... :guilty:

I see animals, shadows, and people who aren't there that warn me about things but if I had psychic power, I wouldn't charge people as long as they didn't abuse my generosity (sp)

oh and NO, I don't SPEAK to the animals, shadows and people.. :rotfl:

:rolleyes1

I would tell your girlfriend to save her money she could use it to live a little instead of having some stranger tell her about the people that SHE knew and loved and are no longer with her. She has to have more faith in herself, she probally already knows the answers to the $1000.00 question! :teleport:

I, too, watch her when she is on Montel but I don't know about how correct she is. I remember when the election was going on and she said that our next President would be a democrat... :confused3 So, not really sure how to take her.

Hmmmm... I predict your girlfriend will gush on how much she loved going to Sylvia Brown and how DEAD ON she was about the questions she asked. I'm sure it's going to be a truly amazing experience (cuz who's going to admit they spent $1K to be scammed)

:cheer2: Thank you! Thank you! :cheer2: That will be $1,000! I take Visa, MasterCard, and AmEx. For you computer buffs, feel free to use Pay Pay.

As someone else said, I look at psychic's as a source of entertainment. Some people play bingo, some play slot machines, some drink in bars, and some see psychics.

It's when people DEPEND on psychics to guide their lives that it concerns me. Otherwise, what the heck? :)

Have you ever watched Penn & Teller's show "Bullsh&t" on Showtime? They devoted one show to psychics and showed how entertainment psychics scam people out of money. They usually have microphones in the audience and listen to people speaking to each other before the show as well as some other tricks. It was really interesting - not to mention, hysterical!!!

Erin :)
