Psyatic Nerve (sciatic Nerve) Question

ITA. My sciatica acts up when I'm pregnant, so I can't take meds for it. But the chiropractor worked wonders!!
Good luck!

Mine hurts so bad right now I'm on Tylenol with codeine (actually I just filled my script I got a month ago) The only thing that makes mine better is delivery which is another 13 weeks away. :sad2:

The only thing that really helped me when I had this was physical therapy, including exercises, light traction, and ultrasound (heat) treatments.

I did have the cortizone (?) shot in my spine as well. That gave me quite a bit of relief without all of the groggy side effects of oral meds.

You need to treat what's causing the problem, not just the symptoms.

Those muscle relaxants make me too sleepy. I can only take them at bedtime. There's no way I could work.

I second physial therapy. It worked wonders when I hurt my back last year. And now, when I feel it starting again, I know what I need to do.
I would also suggest looking at how you sit at your desk, especially if you sit for long periods. Slouching, or rounding the small of your back is terrible for it.

I went to the Chiropractor for mine and I am amazed at the difference. I do not go to a Chiropractor where they crack your bones. I am very glad that I could get it under control without medication.

I'm sorry you are having pain. Last year, I had a ruptured disc that was pressing on my sciatic nerve. It got so bad that my leg eventually went numb. I tried going to a chiropractor to ease the pain, but ended up having surgery.

When my neurosurgeon found out that I had been to a chiropractor, he told me that was the worst thing I could have done for sciatic pain and that he never recommends going to a chiropractor. I ended up having nerve damage because the adjustments made the disc press harder on the nerve, and the disc material seeped into my spinal column. Had I just gone to the neurosurgeon first, to the treat the problem not the symptoms, I would have had less damage. I had surgery last June and have had no problems with my back or nerve pain since then.

Hope you feel better soon!
