Pssssst.. Do you think Disney even knows?

We haven't been to WDW since the FP+ started, but I can't imagine that the magic is gone. Just the ability to ride as many rides as you were used to, and to tour the way you were used to.

There is something to that. The families I know that have gone for the first time this past year don't plan to return anytime soon if ever. We usually go every year but are put off by the current issues. We had planned to go in May and pushed it back to November.

If things don't appear to be more together by November that can get pushed again.

We are going June/July because our APs expire July 1 and then we have a Disney Cruise scheduled. After that, after 25 years, we have no plans to renew our APs. Next year we will find something new to do for vacation.

We also have several families of friends that have changed their minds about going to Disney at all this year.

We arrive in 70 days... the magic hasn't even had a chance to disappear yet!

For everyone who the magic HAS disappeared, please feel free to cancel your trips, and cancel your reservations and your FP's... it'll make things just a bit more magical for the rest of us when we arrive to enjoy everything! pixiedust:

Sorry if I didn't cater to your negativity, but although I respect your opinion, I completely disagree with it.

Psssssssst.

No need to be disagreeable. Just agree to disagree and try a little Pixie Dust next time.

Personally it makes me sad when a believer has lost his pixie dust. Hubby's last straw was the loss of Lights of Winter. Now we bite the bullet, fly across country and hug a mouse at DL.

I'm here right NOW! This is trip #8 in as many years and I am having a ball!!! I have no complaints with the new magicbands and fastpass+ . It has worked beautifully for us and our trips will continue.

This sort of thing is so silly. Maybe the magic is gone for you. That's okay. People grow and change and businesses and attractions grow an change and sometimes the fit isn't good. That's okay. There are so many amazing places to see and visit. Go out and find a new place to love!

But, no, the magic isn't gone for everyone. We're just back. It was the best trip I've ever taken (this was my fifth). My oldest daughter just bloomed the whole time we were there. I could tell that she felt wonderful and confident. My middle daughter was so in love with everything. Every new thing was her favorite. The look on her face when she saw Elsa on the castle? Priceless. My littlest, who is so so shy, talked to Mickey and ran to be the first to give him hugs.

We had magic. Tons. To the point that I've got dh talked into DVC so we can go MORE.

It's a lot quicker than posting multiple times shaking your finger at anyone who posts things you consider off topic. You could have gotten like 10 of them in the time it took you to have your back and forth about whether you were rude or not.

yea but where's the fun in that? I'm by no means mad at the original poster. I just stated my opinion. They had their turn, why can't I have mine?

The magic was very much there on our trip- try it and see! Don't let the boards make you feel like you won't have fun.

I'm not saying either side is wrong. Or that either side is right. And yes, there appear to be 'sides'.
However, for those of us who have gone to Disney longer than some have been on the planet, an old saying comes to mind.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Then again, you could say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I personally have seen little things disappear here and there. Kept thinking each time that it was no big deal. That it wasn't a major part of the experience.

Those little things have begun to add up.

:faint:

Agree but still bring my own magic…little things fer sure..like no more riding in the front of the monorail…what idiot thought that one up? Oh you ride Richard Petty race car but these suits/idiots can't get that to ride in the front monorail is the very essence of what that place is suppose to be…oh yeah how bout no more swimming in the pool after 11pm even though you paid $800 a night?
Corporate idiots plain and simple and that is the crux of all the issues with magic dissipating at WDW….Corporate scumbags period.

I'm pretty sure both are due to safety issues- the monorail because of the major crash many years ago and the pool because someone drowned I think? I guess that they close it late at night because they cant get a lifeguard on duty. Although the quiet pools were always open...

From all the back and forth remarks, it looks like the Magic has gone out of the DIS Boards. Everybody has a right to their own opinion and there is not need for the kind of bickering that is going on, on this thread.

Bullocks…safety smafety….whats more dangerous than a stock car going 125 miles per hour with a 12 year old in the passenger seat? They just have no clue in the Burbank executive office. They close the pools because they don't want to pay the nominal cost to keep them open for the few who enjoy using them at 1am..like me….that started in October….100 million for the suits…50% profit stock return equals greed….and the guest pays in sloppy hiring and little wonders that are going away year to year…though I still love being on the property and bring my own magic..the monorail is complete BS to take away that experience and say it has to do with safety……they got a break on insurance from some suit to another and they put the cost in their pocket without a care for history and joy. just my take.

The Magic hasn't gone :confused3 I saw it docked at Cape Canaveral earlier. Although it may have gone out to sea by now :boat:
My 4 day trip on the Magic with my nieces was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life…I think they do a great job in that division of Disney…maybe the suits are too busy messing with WDW…and besides how many DVCs can you add to a ship?

After I took my first trip to WDW in 2003, I said "Never again!" I had been to Disneyland several times, but WDW was too crowded and expensive and I didn't really enjoy myself.
I went back last November. I was originally going to go to another function in Orlando, but it didn't pan out, so I decided to try WDW again. I don't know if it was the difference in the time of year (November vs. May), the hotel (Pop vs. Sports), or that I just knew what to expect now, but I really had a good time. So much so that I'm hoping I can take another birthday trip this year and stay in a moderate resort. The only thing was that I am not in the same shape I was 10 years ago (which wasn't that great then), so I didn't do as much as I liked, but that's my problem. I think part of what made it better for me was the dining and the bus to take me to and from the airport. There were two expenses I didn't have to worry about.
I'll admit I'm not a "thrill" rider, but I did have to stand in line for some popular rides. What I fell in love with is The Land ride at Epcot. I want to definitely go back and take The Seeds Tour this year.
And eat some more. :rotfl2:

...talk about being dramatic. Take it from someone who just experienced their first trip...the magic is NOT gone. In fact, I was upset at how much money we were spending on a family vacation, wasnt all that excited to go, wanted to lay in a beach somewhere and eight nights at Disney changed my entire outlook on both WDW and how I view vacations. We will be spending every vacation we can at WDW from here on out. And we are newcomers, so please don't speak for us! Please, if you feel you can find place with more magic than Disney, visit there. I think all the negative attitudes of people whining about "lost magic" is the real issue. Not WDW, not FP+...just good ol fashion bad attitudes.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first trip! :)

I'd say for some who may have been so privileged to be able to attend numerous times the magic may have been gone because you were a bit bored with it.
I don't know one person who has come back and has said "There's no magic there", my DH40 felt the magic, along with my DS6, and also myself and we can't wait to get back.

In regards to the Richard Petty race car, i'm sure you'd sign a waiver if any injury or accident was to occur, participate at your own risk in other words.

WDW insurance has likely made it a directive for all onsite resorts to change their swimming pool policies after the death of a child.
I get it, death is bad for business and bad for your conscience.

I don't know if corporate idiots is the right term, they're far from stupid and Disney is still reaping in the dollars, they're doing something right.

I'm headed to wdw in May for the first in 20 years. I'll be taking my 3 and 5 year old. Although I'm new to this forum I've been an active member of several others.

Why isn't this thread locked? It's been my huge disney downer of the day.

Because it's assumed we are all capable of deciding on our own what we should or should not read. If this thread is a huge downer for you, that is your issue.

Id gladly sign a waiver to ride in front of the monorail again…to me there is nothing like zooming into the Contemporary and sitting in front on the way to Epcot..big time memories for me that others should still be able to enjoy..history has its charms and although the suits are 'smart' i.e. 100% stock return in 2 years….at what cost to the 'magic'..clearly many hear feel the price for the bottom line is too much….
