Psat?

Anyone taking it this month? I'm taking it on Wednesday. If anyone's already taken it, how does it compare to the ACT? I took that this spring and did fairly well, but I've heard that the PSAT is a lot harder.

Does anyone know if it actually counts for something or is it just to let you know what SATs will be like?

I'm taking it next Saturday but I took it last year as a soph., too.

No, the scores do not count on your transcript but, if you do really well, you can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship (only if you're a junior, though).

It's used to show what type of questions and what sort of style you'll see on the SATs; however, there is no writing section.

if you do really well, you can get a scholarship... but dont worry if oyu do bad.. its just meant so that you can get used to the format of the sats... and so that you know what you need to work on for the real thing.. imo, the psats were much much easier than the real sats lol... if you guys get an oppurtunity to take a mock sat, i suggest taking that.. you take a real sat test, but for practice

i'm taking the EXPLORE tests on Wednesday.

It doesnt count for anything. Just think of it as an early dismissal and you will get through.

Im taking it Wednesday too. Im taking it to qualify for NMS ( National Merit Scholarship) because im a junior.

Oh i am taking it wednesdayy too. we took a practice test for it and it was pretty complicated but the same test is taken by sophomores and jouniors so she said we aren't expected to do outstanding

I supposed to take it, but there were only 30 freshman spots and i got there too late, so no PSAT for me.
From what I understand, the scores do not count at all. It's just to let you see what the SATs will be like.
They're Wednesday here, too.
The people taking it have to be at school at normal school time. (8:30)

We start at 8 too. Unfortunately, that means that I don't get to leave AP English. Ugh.

I am a sophmore and I am taking the SAT in January. I never did the PSAT though. According to my school, I'm some sort of genius that they feel can go to college a year early. Even though I can't spell to save my life..lol

I also haven't even taken the OGT yet. We have a practice test of that in my Honors Geometry class on Wend.

Good Luck!!! You will do just fine..And keep in your mind..it is for practice and for you to get a feel on what the actual SAT/ACT will be like.

I took the PSATs last year as a sophomore and I'm taking them again this year as a junior, just to see if my score improves any. I'm hoping that it will.

You can send your scores out to colleges, or allow them to be viewed by colleges and then any schools interested in your grades will send you stuff (or at least, they did with me).

I need to be at school at 7:30 sharp Saturday morning to take them. That's the only part I hate. Other than that, they're fairly easy.

I took them last year and didn't think they were that hard.
At our school the scores you get your sophomore year affect if you can be in AP classes or not and as a junior you can qualify for the national merit.
