PSA: Check your room type carefully w/fixed week reservation after points reallocation

If you have a guaranteed week contract, and the point chart changes to be in your favor, make sure to check the room type of your automatic reservation. I have a fixed week 43 Poly Lake View studio. With the recent point chart reallocation, my 168 point guaranteed contract is now a good deal, as the room normally now requires 181 points. But my automatic booking downgraded me to a standard view room (153 point room) for the 168 points.

To Disney's credit, they fixed the issue promptly and courteously when I contacted them, and I was able to resolve the problem via member services chat. So no worries there. I just wanted to let people know to watch for this possibility, as I didn't notice it at first myself.

I wonder if it has to be "fixed" manually every year until the next allocation that ends up requiring less points than your contract.

Ugh, I hope not!

For now I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt, and if this is a software bug, assume it will be fixed in a reasonable amount of time. That said, I could also see such a fix constantly slipping down the priority list, given that it probably affects a small number of people at this point and there's a "workaround" (i.e. call to request a manual fix).

I think there's another disboard member who has a week 44 Poly Lake View. I'm hoping he weighs in on whether this happened to him this year, too. Hopefully mine was just a random one-time glitch.

The other option is human error with all the new CMs. Most FWs are for this time of year and maybe just someone who didn’t know?

Oh that could be! I was thinking the fixed reservations are automated, but if they're entered manually this was probably just human error.
