We have a PS booked at Chef Mickey's on our last night, we plan to go to MK that day, what would be the best route. Would we need to get our car and drive over or is there a monorail or something. I know its in the Contemporary Resort but that is the extent of my knowledge.

Thanks

You can just take the Monorail from the MK over to the Contemporary. Have a great time-you are going to love it!:sunny:

Thanks for your quick reply Dina, I am sure we will, only five days to go, starting to get quite excited now :hyper:

Lucky you!:) Wish we only had 5 days to go. Did you happen to see that very high number on my countdown clock?:(

LOL! I like your style - book the meal first, then find out where it is! :teeth:

You could also walk it's about 10mins at most & is quite pleasant, especially if you leave MK along with everyone else!

Well I was starting to panic that we would not get a place. I have literally only just started planning, holiday has been booked for nearly a year. It was a throw away remark from someone about three weeks ago who suggested we get this great book all about Disney and Orlando. She wasn't sure what it was called but she had seen it in Ottakers and it had nemo or something on the front. She said if it wasn't there I could possibly get it in the Disney Store. Couldn't find it in Ottakers, went to Disney Store and explained about the book and that it had either Nemo or Shrek!!! on the front. Disney Store guy gently explained that Shrek wasn't Disney (oops). Anyway eventually found out off this girl that it was Simon's book (no sign of Nemo on the front). Got it from Tesco, devoured it and it pointed me in the direction of this site.

Consequently I have now realised that we should have been planning this trip for the last 11 months, although in my defence, its hard to plan too much if you have never been before. I have read lots of good reviews about Chef Mickey, had heard about Character Dining but we weren't going to bother until we started reading these boards. One of the considerations for our choice was also the Characters, really wanted AK Breakfastasorus Characters because they also include Pluto but don't want to do a breakfast as we want to get straight on the rides.

Have also realised from this board that whilst we had intended to hire a stroller, we have now decided to hire a double stroller, as I think our 6 yr old DD will flag going around the park and possibly also our 9yr old DS, having said that not sure he would want to be seen being pushed around in a stroller. Mind you if he doesn't want to I would be happy to take his place. 4 yr old DS will have to walk thought cos there won't be any room if I get in.;)

There are a couple of restaurants though which for us are a must, as we remember them from our heady days of living in DC, pre kids, pre marriage as well come to that. They are Cheesecake Factory and Steak and Ale, also we discovered The Outback (Bloomin Onion Fame) when we last in Florida. So that is a must as well.

I am hoping that walking around the parks all day will burn off some of the calories that I am going to be consuming at these restaurants.:sunny:

It sounds as though you've certainly got the planning under control now :teeth:

I know exactly what you mean about not knowing how to plan the trip when you've never been before. On our first trip, I thought I'd got as much as I needed sorted out, but realised as soon as the plane hit the tarmac that I didn't have a clue about any of it! You sound so much better organised than that, though :)

With the benefit of hindsight everything becomes crystal clear, so it's a good idea to be flexible so that you can change things around if you decide an alternative plan would be better, without feeling as though everything will fall apart.

Hi, I know what you mean about the Cheesecake Factory - hubby and I love it there. The food portions shocked me but the cheesecake, oh the cheesecake *drools* - this is one place we'll definitely be going back to in September!

Hope you enjoy your PS at Chef Mickey's and have a wonderful holiday. Wish my countdown was like yours lol.

MsPennieLane,

You are not going to believe this, I don't like Cheesecake. Its there mashed potatoes that I love. Still DH loves Cheescake, so we will all be happy.

Kaz, I have to admit DH is even more mad about cheesecake then me, which is saying something. They combine DH's love of white chocolate and cheesecake. I love their pasta but will definitely try the mashed potatoes now. Me, I preferred the Twinkie Tiramisu at Pop Century - it was to die for! I've lost count of the amount of slices DH had of their tie-dyed cheescake as well. Damn, all this talk of food is making me hungry :p

HI There

When we were there last year we drove to the contemporary and had our car valet parked, I think it was about $10 and then after meal we walked to MK. Only about ten mins if that. This way you do not have to pay to park at monorail or boat and queue to get to MK or the best thing for us was walking back to contemporary when MK closed. The queue's for transport can be horrendous as I'm sure you know.

Have a fab time
