I am taking my 14 year old nephew to Universal for the 1st time April 8-10. We already have tickets but I can't decide what to do about a hotel.

We will arrive around 2:00 on Wednesday and have to leave the parks around 5:00 on Friday to head to my Mom's in Tampa. We will be in the parks Wednesday evening, Thursday, and Friday. Since this is just before Easter, I assume it will be quite busy.

I can't decide if staying at RPR and getting FOTL is worth the extra expense. I was thinking of staying at the Doubletree and buying Express Passes. If it understand it correctly, you can only use the Express Pass once per attraction. If I buy them for both Thursday and Friday it will cost an extra $183.87.

Any opinons? Which would you do?

Don't know if this would help you any but we have stayed at the Doubletree for part of our stay and then switched over to the RPR for the rest of our trip .
You could always stay 1 day at RPR and you would have FOTL for the day you check in and the day you check out .

ky07 is right.

if you bought the epps for 2 days for everyone, they would be appox. $184.
one night at the doubletree w/ tax could be $100 a night. maybe a bit cheaper

for the $284 that you would spend, put that amount towards a one night room at the RPH.

you will get 2 full days of fotl.
might as well stay on site for one night as you would be spending the same amount in the long run.

also, on site guests using fotl, have unlimited rides, no restrictions.

switch back to the double tree for the night you check out of RPH.
