Over the weekend my DD9 and I were on our way to her skate team practice and we were listening to one of the local radio stations that was doing a St. Judes telethon. They had a parent on who was telling the story of her daughter who had cancer and the fight that they had, the end of the story was not one of the happy ones. Needless to say I am driving down the road with tears rolling down my cheeks. Kayla in a very serious voice from the back seat tells me to dial the # on my cell phone because she is going to send them $10.00 of her money to "help the sick kids". This of course made me cry even harder! When I finally pulled myself together I dialed the phone and gave it to her and she did all the talking and gave them all the information.
A couple hours later a family friend called my mom and asked her if Kayla donated any money through the radio station because she heard her name announced.
This is the second time she has donated her own money to St. Judes.....
Just when I start thinking that I am creating a self centered child she goes and does something like this. Maybe I am doing something right.
