Hello. . .

Please be gentle as I am a newbie on this board!

I work for a large retail company that tends to get in a lot of merchandise from vendors trying to convince us to buy their product. The samples that aren't returned end up getting sold (for charity I believe).

Any any rate, this morning I ran across this cool little Finding Nemo game (it's pictured somewhere) that I thought would be cool to mess around with at my desk.

When I got to my desk I realized something with different with this toy. The vast majority of stuff we get is a case of this or that plucked off the manufacturerer's production line. This game however (or at least the packaging), is not production ready.

If you look at the scan (there is a larger scan at: ) you might be able to see that the title of the toy 'Mini Water Kids' is raised up off the card board -- it's pasted to the back using 2 pieces of what looks like foam core. It's also pretty apparent on close inspection that the backing board, and raised title area were not machine cut. The bubble holding the game is attached to the card with tape, and the backing is blank except for a piece of velcro, and a hand written label that reads "Banshee VS Unitoy NEMO). There are other things I noticed, but they're pretty irrelevant.

My question is. . . should I open it and play with it, or is this something a collector would be interested in? I am a collector myself (of trading cards and comic books) so I have the collector mentality, and wouldn't want to rip this thing open and play with it without doing any research.

Any help would be excellent -- if this is the wrong place to ask this question please let me know, and don't be afraid to tell me this thing has no value -- I'd like to open it up and check it out, but I'd hate to detstroy a potentially unique item.

Thanks.

Jon

looks different. have you seen the real package yet? Maybe thay all look like this.

Hello. . .

Thanks for welcoming me to the board.

I have contacted some toy collectors who have confirmed this is a salesman sample (due to the way the packaging is put together, and other various things), but to answer your question, no I have not seen the the actual produced toys -- I don't even know if they actually went ahead and made them.

Also I actually found a loose toy around the office, The 'Nemo' background in the water toy is literally Scotch taped to the back of the clear part of the water toy.
