This certainly seems like a hot new product. It was all over the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot. I bought a flute of it at the Festival Welcome Center, and people kept walking up to me to ask where I got it.

On Sunday, I bought a couple of bottles in Costco to bring to a friend's house. As I stood in line to pay for it, a salesman asked how I planned to drink it. When I said we'd be mixing it with Chambord, he directed me to a different brand that would be more "brut" (i.e., more dry/sour) and would therefore mix well with a sweet liqueur.

It was very nice, and I'm planning to buy more of it for my Christmas Eve dinner along with a bottle of peach schnapps to make Bellini's. I have some creme de cassis left from last year for anyone who prefers Kir Royale.

I just wonder how to tell if it's brut or not. I wouldn't have known on Sunday unless the salesman told me.

I love prosecco. I prefer it to champagne both solo and mixed in things. My favorite is raspberry juice and prosecco, although a mimosa or bellini would never be frowned upon.

BTW, you may not want to use peach schnapps for the Bellini. A few companies make a peach nectar and a straight peach juice that work better. The alcohol in the schnapps doesn't blend as well with the prosecco, in my opinion.

Love, love, love prosecco, JJ. If you hit Trader Joe's it has reasonably priced choices.

I love the word alone, Gina. It sounds so lovely, especially when you put a purr on the "R."

LPrincess, the only Bellini's I've had were made with peach puree. I was thinking of trying it with schnapps since I've already mixed it with Chambord and loved it.

The timing of this thread is too funny as I am heading to Trader Joe's today and am picking up several bottles.

My co-worker from Germany brought us over Prosecco Gummi Bears from this little boutique candy shop. They were a little fizzy and everything.

I like it strait but drop frozen raspberries or strawerries in the glass.

Is it too early for Prosecco?

Prosecco has certainly been gaining in popularity. What I love about it is that they are starting to import a lot more of the drier varieties here in the USA. I also like that since most people don't know much about it, you can find bottles that are very highly rated for a very good price. I believe our local state store had a Prosecco Brut which rated 88 for only $10. :thumbsup2

Never heard of it, but definitely sounds like something I'd like! Please post more recipe ideas.

I just had to post though, because I'm totally jealous of those of you that can buy liquour in stores like Cosco and Trader Joes! We can only get alcohol (even beer) at liquour stores here! (Although our situation isn't as annoying as PA's!)
