Pros/cons of bringing a 3 month old in September?

With all the rumors of free dining being offered again, I'm contemplating another trip in September. I'm currently pregnant with #3, due the end of June, so the baby would be around 3 months old. My main concern is the heat - we've been there the last couple years at this time and I know it's hot. We'll have a car so we can take necessary breaks. Just wanting to get ideas if I'm out of my mind or not. :cool1: Both my boys were at least 7 months old when we went and it was in the cooler months. Of course, they weren't offering free dining then... ;)

Any advice?

Thanks!

I would say 3 months is better than after they start wanting to crawl and walk! We went when my DS#2 was 10 months, and is was great. He was not walking yet, so he did not mind being in the stroller at all. I would park us in the shade when the others were on a ride, or take the train around the park (he loved that!) At 3 months, all they need is a clean diaper, food, and sleep. I missed a lot that year due to breastfeeding, but as long as you don't mind that you may miss some things, go and have a great time.

I am currently pregnant with my first due at the end of august and we have a trip planned for December. Im subscribing to see everyone's input on taking an infant to WDW popcorn::

I took a 10 wk old last September.

Yep, it's hot. I nursed a LOT, probably every hour, and was chasing down ice water constantly all over the parks. She spent most of her time either eating or sleeping, though she did enjoy music wherever we found it. IASW and Pooh were big hits; I think it was the colors that attracted her. I didn't use the baby centers at all; they are just not located in areas where we spent any time, and it was too hot to be trekking half way across the park just to find a rocker.

I used my solarveil ring sling constantly on that trip: used it for carrying and for shade for DD when being carried or when in the stroller, for nursing, and also to carry her into the pool with us, which she REALLY liked! I also used a misting fan a lot for myself -- cocooning with that warm little body was just that much hotter.

We went back at Xmas when she was just turning 6 months. She was much more interested in what was happening around her. The weather really didn't matter much to her either time, but the difference in her nursing demands was certainly easier on me, and I had a better time the second trip. However, I will say that frequent nursing was much easier when I was wearing lightweight summer clothing, fumbling with fleece was kind of a PITA.

I would talk to your pediatrician. Are you traveling by plane? We always get sick in WDW but the worst times we ever got sick were in September and August.
BTW- Congrats!

We made a trip last September when our youngest was 4 weeks old and had a great time! (In fact, we've been to WDW with each of our 4 children between 1-2 months of age). Since you've already been there in September, you know that it will be hot. Just prepare to take a lot of breaks. We checked with his Pediatrician before we left and the only thing she recommended we take with us was Tylenol in case we needed it. Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

Momofmikey - Congratulations! I am also due with #3 (early July) and have been trying to decide if we should keep the reservations we have for the last week of September. Our DS was 11 mos for his first trip and DD was 7 mos on her first trip. We booked the bounceback last year so we are already set with the free dining. I am also concerned about the heat, as we have gone the same time in September for the past two years and it was pretty hot.
I talked to our pediatrician about it and he said he wasn't concerned about it as long as the new baby was at least two months old and we took the necessary precautions of keeping him in the shade and well hydrated. We are going with the in-laws though, and my MIL has already said that she doesn't mind statying at the resort with the baby a couple of times if it is too hot for him to go to the parks with us. I figure we will just have to take it easy if it is hot, especially in the afternoons and not worry if I don't spend as much time in the parks as I am used to.

Good Luck!
