Our ADR is around 7...so if you stall and take your time through dinner we might cross paths. You wouldnt disturb us we are old news, been married a year...lol! But, they do offer custom cakes at the cali grill. That might be something you might want to think of. I know they have mini 2 tier wedding cakes. That might be cute to have for desert!

just a thought :)

If you talk to them directly, maybe. I would call the ADR and ask to speak to a manager at the Cali. If that doesn't work, tell them what the occasion is and ask for advice. Sometimes you have to be persistent, but it can pay off. If nothing else, keep your current res, then sneak over the Cali when you first get there and talk to them in person.

Spoke with a manager at Cali Grill yesterday. I ended up keeping my reservation time (5:35) knowing that we will probably be seated a little late, and have a long dinner, until the 8:00 fireworks.

The plan is similar to what others have posted, the server will bring out a "special course" that the prince requested for his princess, after dinner, before dessert. I had considered placing the ring on the flowerbed, but I've thought better of that, and will present the ring after.

The flowerbed comes with a tiara. What order do you think I should go? Proposal -> Ring -> Tiara, or Tiara -> Proposal -> Ring, or Proposal -> Tiara -> Ring?

I know she will love the tiara, she brings one down every time we go. Her current favorite is a bit tarnished, so I'm sure she'll be happy with a new one.

you should do the tiara first that way she will think that thats the surpise! then she will freak out when you give her the ring.

I had a Disney World proposal in 2007, at Cinderella's Royal Table with a glass slipper. He didn't put the ring in the slipper, but he presented the slipper on a silver platter with rose petals all around it. Then got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. We had the slipper engraved after the fact at the crystal shop on Main Street with "Will you marry me?" our names and the date. The whole story is at the beginning of my PJ. Good luck, it will be magical and memorable!!!

as previous poster described I also got engaged at Cinderellas royal table and did have my ring presented in the slipper the floral is just a few rose petals well mine was and a rose head with the ring around it

here is a pic

Love the picture. Was the photo included with the engagement package for CRT? Did they take more photos? Of the proposal and everything?

Now I am reconsidering Cali Grill, and leaning towards CRT....but CRT is breakfast the next morning, maybe I can add a note to my ADR at CRT for a little special treatment.

there was a photopass lady there just for us but no we had to pay extra for the photos

what was included was the slipper engraved with our names the date and your own special message ours says happily ever after, champagne flutes and the chocolate glass slipper desert and around hers it says will you marry me?

I can forward all the info they sent DF if you PM me your email address I can also send you the email of the co ordinator so you can get in contact directly with CRT

We also got engaged at CRT and they do have the photopass person take pictures of the whole proposal. You have to buy the pictures separately but we had preordered the photopass cd so that wasn't a problem. They really got some great pics and it was awesome to be able to show people back at home. Everyone says they tear up when they see the pics. I'm sure they could set up something similar for you at CG if you wanted.

Update. Disney Photopass is not able to send someone to CG. Disney Fine Art Photography will send someone for $495 (out of the budget).

So....we will be relying on the wait staff and any disboard people that happen to be there that evening:grouphug:

BTW, I picked up the ring, and it's gorgeous. I had to send it with my parents until my girlfriend goes home for Christmas. I will post pics on the 23rd for anyone interested.

that's so strange, especially now that they just launched that whole Disney engagement site too.

I'm with you on the going with the staff there or any diser's that happen to be there. While it's nice to have the pics, I definitely don't think it would be worth $500 to get them. They'll come out just fine and your GF will be so happy and surprised.

I'd love to see pics of the ring. I can't believe your vacation is so soon!

I am happy I worked out the engagement plans prior to that site. Using DFTE (new slang for Disney Fairytale Engagements) would probably drive up the cost. I wonder if they will shun impromptu engagements, like impromptu weddings. It also takes all the fun(stress) of orchestrating it oneself. I talked to countless cast members at disney photo, floral, cali grill, and reservations to make this work. Not to mention the support of Mindy (thanks again, I am so happy this is going to work out!).

Pez, I have the same sentiments regarding the DxDP...what diet? I'll be eating 3 TS and 2 snacks per day!

I will post photos of the ring tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks again for everyone's help/support. It wouldn't have been as fun/memorable using DFTE. :woohoo:

I'm glad it's working out for you and that you were able to get help on this board. I'm not a fan of that new site either. I don't know, I guess it could help out some guys, but it seems like it would take out all the personal elements. And you're right- I bet it is a lot more expensive.

A little secret for anybody reading this thread that might be wanting to propose: At least when I worked there, we loved helping out people with magical things like that. If there was a little something we could do, we did it. And we didn't always charge for it. If you're nice and tell people you want to create a magical moment for some kind of special occasion, we'll do our best to help you. At least, that's how it was when I worked there. That was one of the fun parts of my job!

AHHHH only 2 days away! We leave tomorrow morning. I've forgotten all the little things, researching them now. What knee to go down on? What to say?

BTW, I asked for her father's approval in person the day after Christmas. I was so nervous. He's a man of few words, and just replied with a handshake.
(Couldn't help but think; "Deal! She's yours now!")

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post pics of the ring. I will post them when we get back, along with pics of the event. Also....I suspect she will start a Disney PJ for our wedding : )

Thanks again for everyone's help. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Best wishes! I can't wait to hear all about it upon your return. My boyfriend and I will be arriving on the day of your proposal and I'll send some good vibes your way. :goodvibes

good luck! You'll have such a great time and don't stress about the little details, it'll be magical! Have a great trip!
