Proposed DVC Ft. Wilderness Plans

I'll miss Tri-Circle-D ... but this looks very cool! Maybe DVC will continue to expand along the west-coast, too .... someday .... ;)

They already have Wilderness Lodge villas, wouldn't they essentially be competing with those?

Quite an impressive build-into-what-is-already-there design. Note the parking lot which looks like it would be accessed by the road that is currently only a bus route between Ft Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. I personally like the concept but I can see how those who currently go to FW all the time would be strongly against this because, with up to eight floors, it could easily double or triple the usual total number of guests at FW, would become the consumer of most current FW resources, and would turn the area near Pioneer hall into something that looked liked a small city.

Since there are 1193 cabins and campsites at FW, it's hard to believe a hotel would double or triple the number of guests at the resort. But I do agree that the resort is pretty crowded as it is without adding more guests. The thing that really got me was that the leisure pool for the hotel was part of phase 2. To mean they should at least consider that a priority so some of the guests from the hotel would not be crowding the pool at FW.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this resort.

Too big.

It noted relocating Tri-circle D, not eliminating it.... that'd be a huge mistake to get rid of it.

These leaked plans are from 2011. So, very late. This is assumed dead by many. I hate the idea of turning a campground / cabin site into a huge DVC resort. I like DVC as much as the next person but known it's place. This isn't it.

Personally I would love this! I would have thought they would want to build a ground-up resort rather than an add on to sell in place of AKV and which will accommodate new buyers who see the point-per-night cost of GFV (and no doubt Poly) as too high to attract them to buy in to DVC.

Love the plans - I hope they come to fruition.

What campground ammenities would the proposed resort overload? Trails-End and the boat launch?
It seems like a stand-alone resort (with a feature and quiet pool) and its own QS.

TS and QS and it could affect the stables, and golf cart rental, bike rentals, boat rentals including crowding of the ferries and buses. However, I think Disney always plans ahead and prepares for additional guests. A hotel could change the atmosphere of Fort Wilderness though. Right now it is a community in of itself. With lots of getting to know the neighbors, it just not like that in a hotel.
