Ok I started this thread on the wedding board and I wanted more responses since all of the stories were so beautiful! All you have to do is tell the story of your DBF or DH proposed to you no matter where it was:)

Have fun and I hope to read lots!

1990, WDW in front of Cinderella's Castle. I was 19, he was 20. We celbrated 15 years a few weeks ago.

We went to Ocean City, MD for a day trip. We had thought it would be fun to bring one of our favorite board games, Huggermugger, to play on the beach later in the day. After a day of fun swimming, walking the boardwalk, etc., we decided it was time to wind down the day and go relax on the beach.

We layed down a blanket on the sand and started playing Huggermugger which has cards with questions from different categories, all having to do with words (spelling, unscramble, definitions, etc.). We had been playing for a while and it was my turn to draw a card to read a question aloud to my fiancé.

As I was scanning down the choices, I started to notice they all happened to have a similar theme... marriage. I was confused at first, but as I read more closely, I realized the way it was written was done in a personalized way. Here is what was written:

unscramble
YRMAREM: MARRY ME

definitions
Proposal:
a) that which is occurring right now
b) an offer of life with Bill forever
*c) all of the above

spelling
Fiancée: what you are to me

luck of the draw
List 12 words using the letters in the word "marriage"

He's a graphic designer and had designed the layout of the card to look identical to the real thing! I got this weird, surreal feeling once I realized that he was proposing to me. As I had a look of shock on my face, he pulled out a jewelry box, opened it, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!!

A bit later he played a tape of a song he wrote for me and had pre-recorded (keyboard & singing). A very unforgettable day to say the least!

Ours is really, really boring. We were just hanging out in bed and one of us (I can't remember who) said something like "we should get married" and we decided yes, let's get married.. we set a date for something like 10 years from then, saying "it should be legal by then". The next day I called her from work and said "I can't wait that long."

I've got to make up a better story.

We just strolled into a jewelry store, as I was going to look for a bracelet. When the salesperson came over, DH told her we wanted to look at engagement rings! I had no clue! He never asked me to marry him!

I was very surprised!!

We were taking one last trip to Disney before we moved to Kuwait for a year. On the monorail from the Poly to the Grand Floridian (going to MK) I mentioned for probably the billionth time in my life that the GF was my favorite hotel and I wanted to stay there someday...and that I'd never even set foot in it. John said that since we were right there, how about hopping off the monorail and walking around for a few min.

We looked through the hotel and then decided to walk the beach towards the wedding pavilion so I could take more pictures. We were standing on the beach near the pavilion and when I finally finished with my pictures, he gave a beautiful speech, pulled out the ring box, and asked me to marry him.

April is DH’s birthday month (he seriously celebrates all bloody month)…So when he gave me a card at work I figured it had to do with his birthday…it said pack for 60degrees in the day and 30 at night we leave in two hours…My first thought is its Thrus. I have to work tomorrow, but My boss says go have fun (apparently this was cleared before hand)…second thought why are we going somewhere cold?? (lived in Florida way to long)…I run home throw a bunch of stuff in a suitcase get in the car ….and kept bugging him to let me know where we were off to….all he said is wait …by the time we got to the airport the suspense was killing me…it wasn’t until the baggage guy said direct flight to Paris did my Jaw drop…were doing WHAT…. Who goes to Paris for the weekend??…He just smiled and said we do….We arrived late at night, checked into the hotel and went for a stroll…It was perfect, I kept asking when he decided to do all this…He said its his birthday month and we needed to get away….(my mind was saying…this one is a keeper) The next day we toured the museum…wander around…and head towards the tower…I of course jump into line to go up…when he asked if we could look at the garden first…Hum ok..so we walk around …He makes me stand under this pink flowering tree so he can take a picture with the tower in the background…and that’s when instead of the camera he takes out a box and gets on one knee…in the middle of crying like a baby I manage to say yes…then he magically produces a bottle of champagne and we sat under the pink tree for hours… I truly didn’t even know he bought the ring…

We went away for a long weekend in Jackson, NH. We had dinner at our favorite, romantic place up there for dinner then went back to our condo. I was sitting on the counch in my pajamas when DH (DBF then) came in and started saying all these sweet things and then said "Will you be my wife?" He then pulled out a ring box and that was that! :)

We live in Long Island and two days before Christmas we drove out to our favorite Long Island winery to pick up our wine shipment. We go in, talk to them, pick up our stuff, etc and then my then DBF asks me what the gazebo is for. I tell him that oh when people have their weddings here they take pictures out there. At this point I'm getting into the car and he says lets take a walk out there and see it. On our way over he was like do you know what today is, yes it's our two year anniversary. We're up in the gazebo and just chatting and he gives me a big hug and I'm like your heart is pounding and he pulls away and tells me he has a little something for me for our anniversary. He then got down on one knee and took out the box, I was crying so much I don't even know if I ever said yes lol. :cloud9:

At a baseball game. He proposed on the big screen. Kinda cliche -- and I knew he was going to do it (we'd never been to a baseball game before :confused3 ) -- but it was fun. A bunch of our friends were there on the other side of the stadium.

Some guy stood up a few rows down and said, "Bill, I bought you a beer!" and he held one up. Then he yelled, "And I got you a spare cup because from now on, she's taking half of everything!!!" :rotfl:

I was engaged. Its a long complicated story as to why im not married but....

It was prom night. He had gone above and beyond. Borrowed his parents car and decided we were going to the fanciest restraunt in town (where he just happpened to work). Well, he kept leaving duren dinner and I was getting royally pi**ed. Well, he ends up introducing me to about 8 million of his coworkers. Well, desert comes and heres this diamond ring in it. He gets down on one knee (just had knee sugery too) and proposes in front of about 80 of my classmates. Of course I said yes. Got a round of aplause from the whole room. At prom our prinicpal actully came over and congralated us. News was around the prom before we even arrived. BOy my DSIs was MAD!!!

I proposed to DH twice in a period of 6 months. He turned me down twice. Despite this little technicality, we were still going ahead with plans to buy a house that was under construction.

So, we were at the wedding of some mutual friends, after all the major festivities were winding down. It was just the 2 of us leaning on the bar at last call. I sighed, "Do you think we'll ever get married?" He answered, "Yeah, I think so. In fact, how 'bout I ask you right now. Will you marry me?"

That was it. We found the bride and groom, told them, then the 4 of us had our pictures taken. We recreated the shot 16 months later at our wedding.

For a few years before dh proposed (he waited 6 looonnggg years to do that), every time we walked by a jewler, I pointed to a ring & told him I wanted that (the yesterday, today & tomorrow ring long before it was popular & I wanted to be different with it).

Anyways, one Saturday in February 1999, we went to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner. He blurted out that he went to the jeweler's house today & picked out a ring. He couldn't keep it in.

One night while talking to him on the phone I heard clip, clip.... It was my ring box with my ring opening & shutting.

So now I knew there was finally a ring to be had but when? I searched his room while he showered but I never found it nor did I look to hard either.

Fast forward to March 27th, 1999. We were on our way to WDW. I sort of thought he was going to do it here but I never let him know & still to this day he thinks I had no clue when I had a hunch.

We got there, checked into the Poly. He wasn't sure when he was going to do it so he carried his back pack everywhere that day with him. He had never been to the Poly so he didn't know the lay out like I did (but now he knows the in's & out's).

We went to DtD that afternoon & he still had his back pack. He did ask me after if I wondered why he had it but I probably didn't notice since I was in the World.

I made him go back to the Poly so we could watch the Water parade & fireworks.

We sat on a hammock (the one closest to the TTC in front of Tahiti) & while waiting for the fireworks he proposed.

He pulled out of his back pack a teddy bear with the year 1999 on it (he bought it around Valentines day) & the teddy bear was holding a rose & inside the rose (it was rose that was a box) was my ring.

We got married May 2000.
