Can anyone tell me exactly what the difference is and can you trade propins in the parks??? I am just wanting my little girl to be able to trade pins.. I don't care and I know she don't care if they are rare or limited... just wanted to clarify before I get the wrong kind..

Quite a few people have traded propins at Disney. My kids have even traded for them because they thought they were cute. I am not a huge fan of them- they are smaller for one thing.

The CMs have to take them, but I can tell you that they aren't happy about it. I got a load of them cheap before our last trip and traded with them the whole trip. I got talking to a CM working at the checkout desk who was a big pin trader herself and she told me that the CMs usually just throw the propins away when they have to take one. They don't consider them "real" Disney pins. I can see her point- they really are nowhere near the quality of the pins you're getting at WDW.

So, although it's "legal" to trade them, I won't be doing it anymore. You can pick up regular Disney pins on E-Bay pretty cheap, so I'll be going that route from now on.

There is a Disney Outlet store that is very near WDW. We often buy Disney pins there for about $3.00 each. Discounted pins aren't always available, but when they are, they are a bargain.

We have also traded Propins and never experienced a problem with them. Some of the pin stations (such as All Stars) have a trading pin book. You just look through the book and exchange your pin for one in the book.
