I just got my Annual Dues Statement.

I own at VGF, and decided to do some math.

To rent a standard view studio for 52 weeks, it comes out to 7658 points. Divide by 52 and we get 147.26. I own 150 points. So I have basically just enough points for a week on average. Perfect.

Estimated Property Taxes: 221.78 (1.4785 per point). Now multiply this by 52 and we get 11,322.35$ So the claim is that that is how much property tax there is on a studio in a year.

Being from NJ, I can make the proud claim, that NO ONE does property taxes better than NJ. We are Number 1! We are the morons that pay the most.

That being said, the numbers just I just put up seem so far out of whack! I know there is a lobby, grounds, etc, but that just seems nuts.

Is there a way to find out how much was paid in property taxes by the VGF in 2014? The 2015 estimate (based on 2.5 million points) is $3,696,250.

I actually doubt that's far from being wrong.

Easy enough. The Orange County (and Osceola, for that matter) tax office(s) (and registrar(s) office) is/are online. It's all public record.

Your dues statement for 2015 will show you the actual amount you paid in property taxes as well as the estimate for 2015. Mine shows the 2014 estimate for the BWV was slightly too high and so I got a small credit applied to my 2015 bill.

I think this is the Orange County record for the VGF:

http://www.ocpafl.org/searches/ParcelSearch.aspx?pid=272411000000002

According to that link, it appears the tax for 2014 was $3,759,773.92

Here is another food for thought item. Disney runs it's own cities so some of the property tax money, the money paid to the city, is paid to Disney!

That is what I was kind of getting at/assuming. There is no way The appropriate FL municipality is getting all the property tax money.

I do not think they would be that high in NJ, and since NJ is pretty much double most places......

Just so people don't make a bad assumption here, the property tax money that goes to Reedy Creek Improvement District can only be used for municipal projects. Its not like this goes into Disney's coffers so they can make money another way.

Because it's a commercial property the millage rate is much higher than for personal property. Also...you're right...the Reedy Creek Improvement District and the city of Bay Lake get about 2 million of the 3.7 million. Granted, my understanding is that they do use it for services (roads, fire dept., etc.) but it still seems like a lot.

But do you have a FLUSH tax like we do in Maryland?

Reminder: The DIS does not allow political discussions.

Does some of it go to Orange Co? I pay 3 property taxes - borough operations, borough schools, county operations.

I wouldn't be surprised if some goes to Orange or Osceola counties, depending on where the resort is.

I looked up my 2 BR for Marriott's Grande Ocean, the taxes there for a 2 BR for 51 weeks (not sure if they wold 51 or 51.5 weeks there) would be $6500. My 2 BR condo there which is somewhat comparable but slightly below is $6K. It looks like my Aruba based Bluegreen points would be around $4000 for a year in a deluxe 2 BR OF. My Wyndham Gatlinburg points would be around $4600 for a 2 BR for a week. What would be interesting would be to compare Golden Oaks to say similar houses in places like HH or VB, I bet they are proportionally more as well. The other factors is that many areas charge more for rental properties, I don't know if that's true in the Orlando area.
