Proper Protocol

I will be using the DxDP on my trip in January. I have heard many people mention that it is advantageous timewise to ask for your check during the meal instead of at the end. What is the proper protocol for this when you are on the dining plan, can you still ask for the check before you get dessert and get it all taken care of then or even earlier?? I know for buffets you can just ask to take care of it right as you get seated. Any tips on how this works when using the dining plan would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you'll be able to until the check is closed out and that means all items are ordered, including dessert.

I never waited more then 5 minutes for the check, to pay and to get the signature pad back.

When ordering your last course, just mention to the waiter/waitress that they can bring the bill when they complete the order. Just mention you are on a time crnch and would like to settle up quickly to catch [fill in ride/attraction.]

My issue has always been that WDW tends to serve food at rapid fire pace and I have to slow down the pace of my meal. They usually drop the check as the last bite of dessert is in your mouth.
