Hi! We're new to camping...Bought a 2013 Shasta Revere this past fall, and we've been on 3 trips. Disney will be trip number 4! How do we gauge how much propane we have? Besides running out LOL...We are going to fill the tanks before Disney, which will be a 2 week trek for us, but we have no idea how much cooking or even using the heater this past fall and this weekend uses! If anyone could give us an idea, we'd appreciate it! Thanks!!!

This puzzles me too. First - you probably won't use very much unless you are heating too so you shouldn't have a problem.

The best way that I have used is to lift the empty tank and then lift the full tank to guage its weight. As you are using the tank pick it up and shake it back and forth. It is liquid so you should have an idea of how much is left along with the weight.

My DH is the expert on this; however, to prevent running out of propane ( has happened before ... Not fun) he sets it so that the system runs off only one tank. When the first tank is empty or low he switches over to the second tank and gets the first tank refilled. You can take the tank to the Meadow Trading Post to be refilled or out to the Camping World in Kissimmee.
Have a great trip.

I drove out to the CW in Kissimmee for a part once. Based on that experience I say....

Take your tank to the Meadow TP if it needs filled and pay whatever they ask.

It's usually less than a 24 hour turnaround on the tank refill.

Here is an old trick. Take boiling water and pour is slowly down the side of the propane tank. The gas is cold and when the water runs down the tank will sweat and you can see the line where the gas is.

Glad you mentioned this. Although the propane refill is located in the parking lot of the Camping World in Kissimmee it appears to not be affiliated with the Camping World. I should mention that you must pay cash for your propane as they do not accept debit or credit cards. We have always found the staff at the propane stand to be courteous and prompt.
We have also used the tank refill at the Meadow and were pleased with the service.

The prices at TP is actually not too bad for propane, $23.00 per bottle in Jan. Also do not bring your tank in the store. Leave it by the fence and they will open the gate and bring it in.

I use a propane guage that connects in-line with the bottle. you can find them in most big box stores :thumbsup2

What size bottle did you fill?

Call camping world in winter garden for the days.If you are a good sam member,I think it's tuesday and wednesday propane is 1.99 a gallon. That's half price. That is at any camping world that sells propane.Winter garden camping world is about the same distance as the kissimmee camping world.Hope this helps.Plus you only pay for what you need.If your tank only needs 2 gallons you only pay for 2 gallons.
