Has anybody seen it? What is the age appropriateness? My daughter is 12 and she loves Kristin Chenoweth, but I am worried about the content.

That show closed a couple of weeks ago.

FWIW, the musical is based on the film THE APARTMENT, which is fairly adult in nature.

Kristin was originally planning to depart on September 26th but she will be staying through until December. My uncle and aunt are going to NYC next week to see the show.

We saw it and while some of the material might be a little adult-ish, she should be OK. It's definitely not "explicit" in any sense of the word. We enjoyed the show a lot, but was a tad disappointed in Kristin's performance. Her role was not as big as we thought it would be. Sean Hayes stole the show. Enjoy!

I actually saw it with my 12 year old cousin.

Personally, for her, it was more just to see kristin chenoweth and sean hayes rather than what the play was actually about. I don't know how much of the play she actually paid attention to. She was just more interested in the music.

If we lived on the east coast we would definitley take her again so obviously we dont see anything wrong with it but it is of ocurse a personal choice.

Unfortunately, I dont remember enough of the specifics of the play (I was mainly there to see Kristin and Sean as well...lol) to really give you an idea of if you think it would be appropriate but I just wanted to let you know that I had taken a 12 year old to it and no ill effects...haha

Kristin is actually staying until the show closes on Jan.2nd She decided that since she and Sean started together, that she wanted them to finish together. She is missing the 28th-1st though i think because she is performing in Los Angeles New Years Eve.

DH & I saw this show in August. It was good & Sean Hayes did steal the show. Based on the movie The Apartment. It's about managers in a company using an employees apartment for liasons with their girlfriends. So I guess it depends on the child. The music is good but not too catchy & since its geared towards adults I am not sure how much a kid would enjoy this but again if you have a child who simply loves the theater & music they would like it. I just wanted to see Kristin Chenowith in person!!!:thumbsup2

If you havent seen the apartment it is a very good film. Heres some info on it which does have spoilers & gives you the plot for the Broadway show.

Promises, Promises first opened in 1968. Most 12 year olds have seen much more explicit material than was permitted on Broadway back then. There may be some additions and innuendo in the script today, but it should be acceptable. She will understand on a 12 year old level; I think it'll be OK.

we just saw it on Friday with DD13 and felt it was fine!!!!

Sean Hays really does steal the show - along with Kate Finneran, the second act is hilarious!!!!:)
