Argh...I am trying to keep perspective here but I have such a headache!!
My DD17 is going to her prom in two weeks.... the limo was booked over a month ago... you have to book for 10 hours!!! With 10 passengers it was going to be 88 per person.
The school has a 'show off" where the kids go and walk a runway to show off their duds..this starts at 4 ends at 6.
Limo should pick up all kids at one house at about 3:00 drive all to school...let them show off and them take them to the prom which begins at 7. The prom ends at midnight...so that takes up about the 10 hours..ok no problem.. until yesterday. Two of the girls tell my DD that she needs to drive to school for the show off and then drive to one girls house where the limo will pick them up at 6 and take them to prom....
WTH  why am I paying for 10 hours of limo and my dd still has to drive so much? so that these couple of girls can drop my dd off just after midnight and use the limo for the 4 remaining hours to drive around NYC!! I don't think so!!!

Long story short when My dd and another girl said that was not fair.. the manipulative NYC partygirls threatened to sue us...lied to me and gave me an ultimatum.....like I am going to leave my DD prom night in their hands after all this.....

so now i have to try and book another Limo........

Like I said..in the big scheme of things...not so bad...but just a pain ....

I would find another Limo and not worry about the nuts....heck I didnt want to pay to take a limo to either of the proms I went too, let alone pay for a someone else to drive around NYC.....

I did get a limo for my 8th grade dance.... but after the limo dropped us off, he needed to go back to my friends house and pick up all the moms and the younger sisters and drive them around for 3 hours so we didnt have to pay to have him sit in the parking lot all night!

That's just ridiculous. I hope you find another limo!!

Thanks for the sympathy.....
I am still working on the limo....may have one for $600.(yikes) and another couple may join my dd and her friend so a 6 way split......

the next town over (where I grew up) doesn't allow Limos...they have the kids all meet at the school and they take nice coach charter buses to the prom....everyone arrives and leaves together...no drama and no extra expense!!

I really wish my DD school did this!!

I wonder what other drama will come up in the next two weeks..hahaha

A lesson in why you shouldn't just scan the boards - I thought the title of this thread was "Porn Limo Headache".

Those girls have a lot of nerve!

and when Dh and I spoke to the mom who aranged the limo and said our girls should be picked up at 4:30 at least and be driven to the school...she said that would be adding hours.:confused3 ....um no that would be using hours we are paying for!! I guess the apples don't fall far from the tree!!

It is better to find out now than prom night and have these selfish folks mess up the night...

Basically, she wants you to subsidize her daughter's evening. :sad2:

Of course. If I hadn't, I'd have spent all day wondering what a porn limo could possibly be. I'd have never gotten any work done.

Well then you know what i thought when I first scanned the board the other day and saw "girl take Dad to the prom"

Good luck.

Last year when DS was going to prom, one boy was in charge of getting the limo for their group. He booked it for the wrong date. In his defense, the wrong date was on the school's website. Anyway, when they realized it, it was tough to get another because they were all booked and they lost the deposit on the first one.

No flames please! It's been a long time since I went to the prom.
Do you HAVE to take a limo? Can't they just go in a regular car?
DH just borrowed his brothers nice car and away we went!

I was going to say the same thing. Prom's become way overblown. $88 per person for a ride?

Today I received a stack of prom tickets to distribute to the kids in my second period class, and I was surprised to see that fewer than 1/3 of my seniors are attending prom. Of course, they all started talking about who's going and who's not. The main reason for not going: MONEY. They're thinking that they cannot go unless they can afford to buy tickets, and a dress/tux, and have professional hair/make-up done, and a manicure/pedicure, and tanning, and a fancy dinner, and flowers, and the limo . . . we should not be pricing kids out of attending a school dance. We, the schools, should put our collective feet down and stop the madness. Moderation should be the watchword.

I thought that too when my kids were in middle school. However, when they reached high school and the prom was 20 miles away in the next state, up I95 and they had had their license less than a year, I was glad to have someone else do the driving.
