DD17 has been in high stress mode about a prom dress - nothing will do, wrong color, too tight, blah, blah, blah...until I am tired of hearing about it and not very sympathetic, sorry to say. She is working this month at a vintage clothing store in our town, and it was slow today so she and her co-worker had a chance to try on clothes. Ta-da!!! The perfect dress - she looks like a fairy princess!!! A beautiful dark pink, with silver braid at the top, and just great classic lines to the floor. It's circa 1967, and the label is from the classic best women's dress store our town ever had - women from all over the state came to shop there in its day. I imagine this dress was well over $100.00 even forty years ago.

And the best part - drumroll please - forty bucks!!!! Yes, $40.00!!!!! I am so pleased for her - she will look beautiful!!!

GOOD JOB :thumbsup2 !!!

My DSis is basically poor!! She works 3 jobs. Single parent.

My DSis's DD (getting ready for graduation) and other senior activities for the final week of high school. DSis told me today, she found the PERFECT dress for her DD...YUP..."Goodwill"!! DSis, went in, saw it, loved it, $40.00 (as well) and brought it home. It has been worn 2X!!! DD loves it BUT has no idea it is from "Goodwill"!!!! Sometimes my DSis does not need to tell DD all HER secrets that get her through life....this is one of them!!!

Wooo Hoooo! I have learned that the key word is "vintage", and although I sometimes get irritated with today's celebrities for their body image issues and the messages they send our young girls about sexuality, etc. - I have to give them big ups for bringing vintage to the forefront. I think when Julia Roberts wore that beautiful black and white dress to the Oscars several years ago and said it was vintage whoever, teens started taking a look at "old clothes" in a new way. DD has had a great time with some of her "finds" - she brought home a shirt the other day that was from the fifties - it was so old it was hip again!!!

If your sister's DD finds out and has anything to say about it, just tell her she's more fashionably dressed than anyone else there, because she's in vintage and everyone else isn't!

Pictures!!

I bet she'll look amazing in it!

So much more 'class' than a cheap dress from the mall.
