Prom date proposal ideas?

Hi all,

When he was previously asked.... It was spelled out in sushi rolls because he really likes sushi. We'll, be dining at a tutto Italia and we were trying to come up with something nice. Maybe have it written on the desert plate or something? I thought this group could do better than that.

Thanks in advance for your ideas...

By DD was just asked to the prom by her boyfriend in her sushi as well. They have a favorite sushi place they go and when her dish of rolls came there was a note asking her to "roll with him to the prom".

She is such a disney nut and they started dating on a Marching Band trip to Disney. She would have loved to be asked at there.

I think it's really special that he wants to do something nice eventhough they are just friends,so don't get me wrong, I guess I'm just worried that maybe she might like him more than friends and it might be "too" romantic. But like another poster, I'm old and worry about things that teens these days don't worry about.
I'm assuming you live local to Disney and thus that would be why they will be in the parks together.
Not as if it's a special expensive vacation.

Love the ideas being posted.

thanks for all the ideas and well wishes... we are off to start packing for the trip.. 24hours and counting till the plane leaves the ground. Cant wait.

I think he is going to keep it simple and just have it written on the desert plate. I am sure the folks at Tutto Italia will do him proud.

Happy Easter everyone!!!!!

I'm still confused. They are not dating, will go as friends to prom but looking for big production to ask a friend to prom? Isn't prom expensive enough without adding all the fanfare! So glad I am old and don't have to deal :)
As an old guy, and I realize this is off the specific topic, but these days will girls actually turn guys down for prom dates because their proposal wasn't clever enough? In my day, it was tough enough just to work up the nerve to ask, apart from making a unique project out of it. (It was so much easier for the guys who had long-term girlfriends. I'm not sure they even needed to ask.)

If they aren't dating, I don't know if I'd make a scene... but, if he really wants to, the ears are cute and not too romantical! ;)

I would think if they are close enough to go on vacation together, going to prom together would be a given.... I'm confused too.

My thoughts exactly. They're not local, so if they're flying together (presumably not part of a school trip) to Disney, I would think its almost an automatic, dating or not. I'd keep it very low key...

If you're dating, then prom is assumed and you wouldn't need a big production :p
If it's not a girl that he likes or wants to date, but just maintain being friends, I'd say a big special asking is pointless.
Also, I'm not sure how much things changed in seven years, but media and movies gave the impression everyone does some big cute, original idea when in reality maybe 4 people from our 250 senior class did anything like that.

Big productions = potential big let down or the 'askee' being pressured/obligated to say yes. Can still be cute without going big.

Great! Now last night I had a dream about getting a Prom date. The good news is I got one, the bad news is HE said yes but had just quit his job so now I had to pay for all of it. LOL
Glad at over 50 I don't have to deal with this stuff.
Both sons never had any interest in Prom. It's too complicated now.

I am confused too.. I just had to throw that in there. I think I am mostly confused about the parents' involvement in the kid's life to this degree.

I hope this stuff turns around by the time my kids are teenagers, because I don't have the energy for this nonsense. :)

x2.
Senior prom would mean it's a 17/18 year old, which equates to being an adult. Picking up the suit, calling for the limo, etc., yes. Planning out proposal ideas? No...

You could order a cake from Disney with "Will You Marry Me?". I believe this is still the info for doing that:

Tutto Italia & Via Napoli — 407-560-8040

  • 6-inch $23 cake in all-chocolate or all-vanilla
  • 8-inch $32 cake in tiramisu, chocolate mousse or strawberry shortcake
  • 10-inch $45 cake, same options as 8-inch
  • Larger cakes: $10/person
  • No screen prints available
I think you mean " Will You Go To Prom With Me?"

I think you are all overthinking this. MY DD is 19. It was very simple. Her DB just said Will you go to Prom with me. She said I would really like that.

Everything is a photo-op now and a chance to show social media so they can say, "Awwwwwwww" and obtain the max amount of likes.
If you're just friends and intend to only stay friends, there's really no reason for this big thing.
If you're already dating, then you shouldn't even have to ask, it should be assumed.
If you really like the person and want to me more, you should still just ask. If they like you, they'll be happy enough and thrilled that you even asked.

On any of the rides that take your photo (Splash, Space Mtn, Test Track, RnRR, Dinosaur, etc.) have someone sitting behind her hold up a sign that says "Will you go to prom with ___?" and perhaps he can pose with a big grin or point to himself or something similarly cute. If it's a noisy enough & roomy enough ride (like Dinosaur), he might be able to do the paper holding himself without her noticing what's up.

Then when they get off the ride, go look at the picture.

Maybe get in the habit of checking out the pictures for a few rides (without the proposal) so that it will be a real surprise the time he does ask.

Not that it would be easy to do that in the first place, I noticed this last trip they've gotten really good about covering up the pictures on the monitors. Very good chance all or most of any sign would be obscured.
