~Project Runway Season Season 8 Thread Spoilers Welcome~

Very true. I think it hurt Kristin last night though... she had too much puckering and lacked shape due to poor construction. Maybe they are saying, but we aren't hearing it as much?

I guess I'm the only one who loved those hats. I've seen every episode of Project Runway from the first season and last night was my favorite. I disagreed with the winner but loved the episode.

I'm looking forward to Gretchen's first visit to the bottom 3.

My favourite episode ever is the season 2 reunion where they show the singing montage and Santino's Tim Gunn impressions it has me in stitches everytime. I also loved the Road to the Runway for season 2 and 3. Oh I loved the Drag Queen Challenge in season 5... those ladies cracked me up

Last night's episode was just odd. The winning Michael's dress was so "okay" - definitely shouldn't have even been in the top 3. Maybe it looked totally different in person. Odd. I wasn't crazy about Valerie's either - it was finished nicely but I thought the neckline looked terrible - made her model look like she had droopy ****s. I liked the other Michael's, and Andy's (thought it looked very Grace Kelly)

I think if April had sewn her bottom (the triple panty) better, she would have been safe. I don't think it looked any more crazy than the hat.

So glad Kristin is gone - her "aesthetic" was simply too sloppy looking for my taste. I was consistently surprised that she wasn't in the bottom 3 before now.

Casanova is really funny - but he's definitely establishing a pattern of doing something crazy and then something boring. Peach also cracks me up, but it seems all she can do are nice little dresses.

I actually liked Michael's dress and its definitely something I would wear, without that hat of course :scared1:
I'm not surprised that Kristin is gone, I think her designs belong in a bohemian thriftshop, not on the runway.
I also can't believe Peach was safe and the designer who did that silver flower dress (I forget his name) was in the bottom.
I really wonder what goes on in the mind of the designers, did April really think those little hot pants look good? If she wanted to go for a resort look she should have went with a bathing suit and a sarong, not pimped out Depends. :laughing:

Did anyone else notice Nina Garcia-TWICE-"shading" her eyes with her paperwork and sort of squinting at a couple of the dresses as they walked past her to exit. It was if the lights were too bright for her to see well?:confused3

I'm sticking with the judges are going by styiling. My boss and I said the same thing this morning about Christopher's dress. If he had just done a basic pump or peep toe, no leggings and boots. Then again we're extremely critical stylists. :lmao: I myself would so wear that dress, just not with the boots or the leggings.

As for Michael C's dress. I think the color didn't go well on TV. But the first rule of thumb that I've had drilled into me--colors in the same family. Unless it's a suit matchy-matchy is a major no.

And if I get to the Lincoln Center show and it's Ivy and Gretchen, I might just have to hold my breath. :sick: Both of them are getting way way way too cocky. And Ivy hasn't even the top 3 at all. http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/project-runway/season-8/scorecard

My favourite was Andy's i lovee it. Im sick of Gretchen her hair in the interviews with the bright lips is ick. She thinks she is always dead on but her calls were way off she though Michael C was in the bottom and he won, i think winning went to her head.
Next week looks pretty good. Did anyone think April's shorts looked like she sewed on some Bounty the quicker picker upper to it?

I agree-- Gretchen is getting so aggravating. I think April (or someone) called it right when they said she's not super creative. Her style is very wearable-- but nothing I haven't seen 1000X in my local mall.
Ack. Poor April. Those "shorts" were hag. Maybe if they had been ANY color/fabric but that white quilted stuff, they would have been marginally better...but, no.

:thumbsup2 I agree. Can't wait to see the cockiness slapped off her face.

I was fine with this episode. Happy to see Kristin gone-- never liked a thing she designed. I actually really liked Michael C's dress-- guess I'm in the minority. I thought it looked as nice as anything could with that sparkly hat. I did agree with Philip Traecy about Valerie's dress-- didn't see anything special about it. I'm also not a fan of visible zippers and thought the zipper on the back of the dress, as well as on the bolero looked stupid.

OMG!
I think this was one of my favoite episodes

EVER!!!

And I love-love-love what Tim Gunn said at the end! go Tim!:thumbsup2

I agree a GREAT episode:yay::yay::yay::yay:

Tim Gunn ROCKS!!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

I wanted to give them a "motherly" talk :happytv::happytv::happytv:

What a cohesive bunch of crybabies...................well ok not all of them.

What an awesome episode!

It was kind of obvious that the underdogs were going to win. I think "Team Luxe" thought they were so elite that none of them felt the need to push themselves at all. From the beginning, the camel/menswear choice seemed so safe and boring.

I agreed with Gretchen's argument that they had the more cohesive collection. However, ugly is still ugly and just because your ugly matches his ugly doesn't mean it'll win. I love when she dissed someone (probably Michael) for not making a great piece - yet didn't seem to recall that she made 4 boring-as-all-get-out pieces. She made half of the stuff on there, but was calling it garbage?

I thought Ivy or Gretchen should have went home. A.J. was also terrible with his one ugly shirtdress so I'm not sad that he left, but Ivy did an entire outfit that was ugly (the Bea Arthur vest - !?!) and the judges definitely figured out the Gretchen was the one calling all of the shots. Did anyone else get the feeling the Heidi really doesn't like Gretchen - even when she was "crying" Heidi wasn't buying it.

And how I love Tim Gunn! I hope my son grows up to be a tenth of the gentleman he is. I thought he was way off with Casanova's shirt because everytime they showed it I was just in love. But calling out Gretchen! Classic! I kept wondering why no one was speaking up about Gretchen when they started throwing Michael under the bus. He had immunity - so if it sucked, what did it matter?

Best part of the episode - Gretchen getting mad when Michael "left the stairs" at Mood without her permission. What a psycho!

I have to agree great show. I was sad about AJ, I wanted to see what he could have done in the fancy dress show, you know one is coming. He would have rocked he would have been on the other team. I agreed with everything the judges said. I think it was a tough call between Peach & Cassanova both those 2 just turned a corner. But he made pants & they were great. I think there have been some great pants this season.

I don't even want to open my mouth about Ivy or Gretchen, I am still kind of fuming & I could get banned:lmao:

Kae - do you want to PM or e-mail me what you WANT to say, and I'll edit it to DIS-acceptable version without changing any intent? ;)

:lmao::lmao:

I was swearing at the tv, if it wouldn't have been the new one I would have thrown things at it.

I LOVED it! I wonder how long the judge's meeting was with the losing team. As it was cut, it looked like Gretchen switched sides so ridiculously fast, almost in one breath - "We loved our cohesive collection. But I couldn't do my stuff since I had to fix a crap collection." I wonder how long it really took. (I do have to say, though, that I'm glad I'm not a designer - I have no idea what the heck "a cohesive collection that tells a story" means! :rotfl:)

At least now not only the contestants have Gretchen's number, but so do the judges. I too must applaud Tim calling her out, and giving it to the other designers. It'll be interesting to see how the other designers deal with Gretchen from here on out.

tim-gunn.jpg

they don't call me GUNN for NOTHING!!

You GO, Tim!!! :worship::worship::worship::worship:

For the first time in PR history, I found myself clapping for the winners!!! :thumbsup2

And when Tim gave Gretchen that SPEECH!!! Priceless!!:banana:

So, does this mean that Casanova and Peach can only design nice clothing when they are collaborating with others? I'm not trying to take anything away from them, but some people just flourish in group projects. It will be interesting to see what they do next week on their own.

It's too bad they couldn't send Gretchen home. It's obvious that they weren't selecting an "auf" from just last night's work.

We weren't home last night. Can't wait to watch it tonight with some popcorn!

But they said OVER AND OVER that they would do just that! The current night was considered only.

Problem wasn't that AJ went home as much as why didn't IVY go? She made those horrendous shorts and that BAD outfit. Sure, AJ made ONE outfit, but it was a tailored shirt dress. That takes TIME. Everyone else made simple pieces. He shouldn't have been punished for that.

I think Gretchen is staying for the drama of it. She is the villain and people like to see the villain get it BAD. I actually preferred the tongue lashing she got from Tim than her leaving! :woohoo:

Tim Gunn is my hero!!!:worship::worship:

I thought Ivy's response to his talk was funny, but some designers on the winning team just seemed fine with Gretchen and now I don't think I like them as much...
