~Project Runway Season Season 8 Thread Spoilers Welcome~

That's why I didn't understand Casanova being so upset about his pants (although it was really funny) - he knew he would have to use him in his design when he pulled him out of his bag. He could have chose pajama pants or something he didn't just pay $1000 for. But knowing me, I would have chosen my "lucky" shirt or something and ended up giving the luck to someone else.

I hope that they will all be 90 minutes - they could even do 2 hours each and I'd still be happy.

I didn't think McKell deserved to go home - especially over the kimono guy - I t think there must have been other reasons playing pretty heavily - like the producers thought it would be more interesting to have him on the show to see if he continues to send stuff down the runway stapled together.
Yeah, I didn’t get that either.
I don’t understand why any of them would choose to use something they really valued, even if they thought they would be the designer using it!

And, I agree about the kimono guy. Stuff generally looks better on TV than in real life, but even on TV it looked stapled together.
I thought for sure they would get rid of him, especially when several of them commented “Didn’t you think we’d notice you just turned it around?"

I really liked McKell and her dress. It was a shame to see her go over backwards Kimono guy

That's exactly what I was thinking. Project Runway has always been one of the few "judge-based" reality shows in which I truly felt that the judging was impartial and fair. They always seem to send home the people who truly deserve to go home. But in this instance, I TOTALLY disagreed. I cannot believe that she went home and backwards kimono guy is still in the running.
I thought about it, and the only thing that I can come up with is that maybe they didn't think she could make it being away from her 9 month old baby at home. :confused3

I was wondering if they thought the others defended themselves well? I didn't like Ivy's outfit at all but she was very adamant and though they found it annoying I think they kinda appreciated her defense.

Im glad they kept Cassanova though the outfit was kinda out there im so curious what else he may send out.

I did see Nina mouth OOookay Kaytiee it was pretty funny.

I think with the backward kimono guy they liked some aspect of the design. I didnt notice til the play back on my DVR that kimono guy was totally talking about her chest too much haha. I wish we had models of the runway still grr some of the girls look interesting and different than previous seasons.

I just don't get the results. The kimono one was unfinished. Heidi said it looked like a hair cut cape. Cassanova's was bad too.

McKell's dress wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't horrible. It was finished at least. I don't think she deserved to go home.

I'm hoping that it's just because they only had 5 hours to design something and they had to use another garment to do so that made so many of the designers appear to be so awful. You've already mentioned the kimono and Casanova's whatever that was, but that inside-out jacket was horrible, too.

In terms of wearability, I really liked Peach's dress. It seemed like a nice summer dress.

I was surprised that they only sent one designer home.

I am not sure Peach "gets" designing high fashion. She didn't understand hair and makeup, and just seemed kind of befuddled. I like her though and hope she goes far! She reminds me of Sweet P.

That's what gets me! I would have sent an unfinished garment home WAY before I sent McKell home!! I'm not really great with names yet, but I believe that the inside out jacket was April's (?) She said that it turned out exactly the way she wanted it...:confused3 I think that's a cop-out. Her garment had rough edges, and the fabric on the skirt part was unhemmed and unravelled!! She simply didn't have time to finish it. And backwards kimono staple dude...nothing really needs to be said about his disater...it speaks for itself. I have no idea what was going through their heads at judging time...

One that I actually really liked, but it didn't get a whole lot of notice was Michael's design (the earth-tone wrap dress with the custom beadwork). It was well constructed, wearable and practical, and just beautiful in my opinion!

I think they let styling play too big a role - they kept harping on McKell's styling of the model and sent her home, but thought that the kimono guy had styled his model better, so he got to stay. It's not the next Rachel Zoe contest - it's about the design of the dress.

I also liked Michael's dress - but I didn't remember what his garment was before - so I wasn't sure how much of it was reworked and how much was from Mood. I also thought the black Asian pantsuit thing was very well tailored for 5 hours - I thought that was going to win.

I really disliked Mondo's outfit - the green with the printed fabric. I thought that should have been in the bottom instead of the dress that mixed evening with sportswear - I don't think that dress was successful, but I thought the judges were way off the mark by calling it "safe".

I agree with you there. I couldn't believe it wasn't in the bottom - it made his model look like she had a belly! How much more unflattering could it have been?

I'm wondering if the safe ones were ones that they knew were definite for the season. I know from my friend who went through casting that they were still not sure with a bunch of this cast the week before filming started.

As for the styling aspect, it makes a difference. Then again it's a big part of my professional life. The perfect without the right accessory can be a disaster.

Anyone think that Kimono guy's model looks like Kelly Osborne?

Yes, I think she looks alot like her.

I agree with everyone else, I can't believe that McKell was sent home over the backwards kimono guy. I didn't like her dress but at least she designed something and created a new look with the garmet she was given.

I don't even know what to say about Cassanova's dress except I bet JLo will be wearing that on the premiere of American Idol

Yowsa, finally was able to watch it!

BOO-HOO no "Models of the Runway" show? That was one of my favorite parts.

As far as the designers, I was impressed with their credentials. Should be a good season.

Surprised that IVY stayed with her mouth.

I was happy to see 2 people from our area. I am thinking Santino had some pull there....just saying.....;)

Have the designers gotten more pro or "semi-pro" lately or is it my imagination? Same with Top Chef. It seems like these are all professionals with their own lines (some designing for celebs) instead of undiscovered talent.

Well with TOP CHEF, you already have to have some type of credential to be on the show. In other words you must already BE a chef.

I would not consider any of the contestants on Runway to be anywhere close to being a high fashion designer, even with the fact they have their own clothing lines. It can be a disaster or it can skyrocket them. That is really taking a risk with your name.

To me it feels like they are going in a different direction to see what "experienced" designers can turn out. I am kind of excited about that to be honest.;)

Peach seems to already be a designer-but her stuff is matronly -to me-I think she's in there just to have an older contestant:confused3

That's probably why I liked her dress. Call me matronly, through and through, but I'm a Talbot's gal all the way. I could see her dress hanging in Talbot's.

I like Peach, but I definitely forsee trouble for her in the future for making more ready-to-wear/sportswear fashion than couture. But maybe she'll surprise us all.

Nobody listens to me :sad2:. I said this, back on the first page of the thread!!

That's it. You hurted my feelings. I don't wanna play any more. I'm taking my toys and going home. :umbrella:
