Project Runway, Season 5 Official Discussion Thread.

I just can't seem to figure out who anyone is yet. !

You wanna know why?;) :lmao: They come in pairs!

You have two black girls , who this week made almost identical outfits

Then you ahve two "mousy" girls-thank gawd one got the axe last night

Then you have two tatooed girls-now it gets easier-a pretty blonde and that obnoxious and constantly shown being quoted black haired hag!!) STelllaaaahhh<

Of the guys- lets see

A couple quiet gay guys
The gay guy with the tatoos on his neck and arm who wears "wife beater" tshirts
The gay black guy who makes weird clothes
The Tan every day hoodie wearing weirdo
The straight Italian guy Joe

And Kenley and Emily were similar looking too, but they auf'd Emily last week, so we are down to only one "cutesy" brunette.

Wait, does this mean either Terri or Kurto will be auf'd next week, or can we consider tanorexic Blayne and 3rd person Suede to be close enough to be "twinsies", raising the possibility that one of them will get the boot?

Man, I was sitting there yelling' Jerrell should be OUT!" I can't believe they allowed him to continue. I think Michael liked the hat. But the rest, omg!

LOL!
OOPS I forgot Suede.
Actually no one really "wows" me this season.

I knew by episode 3 last season that Christian was a contender-this season not sure at all.

So who won last night? The jacket- pants suit or the vest-pants suit?

Suede vest pants suit-the other pants suit came in second.

Also did ya'll catch when Tim Gunn was telling Tan-hoodie boy that his jacket was a little too Sargent Pepper-y and he looks puzzeled at Tim and says "who"?:lmao:

Now REALLLY- I know young people that age who are aware of all the Beatles albumns!

Joe's outfit was nice, but the proportions were off on the skort. I didn't really dig the huge USA on the side but I know that was it.

I knew Joe, Korto and Terry were the contenders this week. Terry's was stylish but the sleeveless tube top type thing would not have worked.

I guess the thing to remember is that it was "only" a challenge. If the producers wanted the athletes to actually "wear" the clothes there would be a totally different outcome. I know some PR challenges do have a bonus like that, such as Kayne's Miss USA gown from S3 (I think) and the Sarah Jessica Parker Bitten Steve and Barry's challenge.

Once the designeers knew that it wasn't going to be "shown" so to speak, they just sort of went thier own way. Personally the track and field musuem had some awful representations of Olympic dress so there really wasn't much inspiration.

I really don't get the vibe that everyone is the same either- and it is kind of almost but not quite offensives. African Americans Korto and Terry are totally different. Korto has an African accent, rounder face and is curvy. Terry has longer hair, older face and pretty thin.

I really don't see how they look alike to me--I've been able to "tell them apart" from day one. :confused3

The guys are pretty easy to tell apart as well. Suede and Blayne are nothing alike. Suede is like 40 years old but dresses like my 14 year old son. Suede has the min-mohawk that is blue. Blayne is just orange and very strange-- he's like 20 some but looks 15.

Daniel is just overwrought... end of story. Dark Hair-- looks almost like he should be in an awful top 40 band

Joe is Joe.. he's got a beard, facial hair and not as built as the other guys.

Jerrell-- tall African American. He wears low cut v necks--s howing off his sternum to the world.

Keith-has the bandanas. Don't like the term wifebeater-- so I'll say tank tops.

Again can't figue out how people can just lump them together (sans Joe) as the gay guys :confused3

Leanne has glasses and brown hair. Quiet and unassuming

Kenley has an annoying laugh, mean streak and the Betty Page/Veronica a la Archie look

Kelli- pretty blonde/tatoos-won challenge 1

Stella-- Letha, looks like a strung out druggie Cher from the 70's. I frequent a PR blog and they nicknamed her Cheroin

I think that's everyone-- did I forget anybody?

Suede vest pants suit-the other pants suit came in second.

Also did ya'll catch when Tim Gunn was telling Tan-hoodie boy that his jacket was a little too Sargent Pepper-y and he looks puzzeled at Tim and says "who"?:lmao:

Thanks!

And I've got to wonder: is Blayne really that young or has he seriously never heard of Sargeant Peppers? I'm thinking that either he's stoned a lot or all those UV rays have done some serious damage. Remember-- this is the guy who sent a model out in that lovely diaper outfit the first week.

?

;) I was being sarcastic. Of course I can tell tham apart-but it was ironic that they both chose to do wide legged pantsuits this challenge-n'est pas?

Tim Gunn has to see the limited abilities of this group. He keeps telling them to "work hard." He slips in a "make it work" sometimes, but more often than not, he tells them to "work hard." It's almost like he's talking to the students at Parsons instead of PR contestants.

I noticed that as well. I thought it was just me.

Although I'm glad that Jennifer is finally out because of the Jennifer/Leanne confusion, her dress was much better than the purple Daniel dress. At least you could picture hers at the Opening Ceremonies. If two athletes were given the choice they would pick hers over Daniel's any day. I think she was chosen because she's shown that she's not all that creative.

Joe's top and the idea was cute, but I hated how the shorts were so much shorter than the skort. I thought LeAnne should have been in the top 3 - that outfit was cute, sporty, and fashionable.

Bolding is mine, b/c it is not the same girl. The one who was robbed of the win last week was Leanne (she has bangs) and the one who was auf'd this week was Jennifer (she made the maternity "clock" dress last week that was in the bottom). Praise the heavens Jennifer got the boot, b/c now no one will be getting Jennifer and LeAnne confused again. ;)

I thought Terri's outfit was very sharp, but I thought either Joe or Kurto deserved the win b/c their outfits would accentuate an athlete's body better, and was not diappointed to see Kurto get tghe win for her pants/vest combo. I was surprised to see so many daggone dresses that did not look sporty at all [aside from the bottom three, I'm looking at you, Kenley!].

WTH was up with the crazy hot mess Jerrell put togehter? How much linger until the judges seriously start to question his taste (or lack thereof)?

Kelli's outfit looked cheap and tacky, like something from a 1960's Sears catalog.

Suede's outfit looked like a Texas cheerleader wannabe.

LeAnne's outfit was cute - I thought the shorts were nice.

From the preview, it looks like they work in pairs next week.

Oh, good!:thumbsup2 Thanks for clearing this up! I'm glad LeAnne stayed. I don't even remember what Jennifer did in the past.

When I saw Jennifer's outfit coming down the runway, I thought :scared: "OMG, she's a designer??" That looks like a McCalls pattern that even I could whip up in a day! (NOTE: I'm only learning to sew now.) It was so blah! Where's the Red, White, and Blue? Why, oh, why would you purposely choose black, white, and gold - for a USA team outfit? And what is up with her thinking she is a surreal designer? Does she not know what surreal means? That's what annoyed me the most about her, so I was happy to see her go.

As far as Daniel's outfit, poor choice of fabric and wrong sort of ceremony. I loved when Michael Kors said "where is she from... Team Cocktail Land?" (something like that). Oh, Michael! :lmao: At least his outfit showed some creativity and skill.

Having trouble getting into the show this season... It's rough so far...

Saw Daniel on the 7 train headed fom Times Square to Long Island City a few times though...

I have to agree with the majority of you...this group just doesn't measure up to previous groups.

Blayne seems to me like he is trying to act like Christian...he has a catch phrase (-licious) and he whines a lot. But Christian had talent.

The rest of them are (mostly) a bunch of whiners!!!

I do like Terry a lot. She has created consistently good stuff since week 1:
Mop-head dress
Navy cocktail dress withthe ruffle up the front.
Backless dress with pants (I thought this was awesome.)
Team USA sportswear

So I think she will be in the final three. I don't know who else, though.

Blayne gets on my nerves. So WHAT about the tanning, so WHAT about your catch phrases... it's been DONE! now MAKE IT WORK! :furious:

.... vent over...

Blayne does annoy me, but he also makes me laugh sometimes. And I can't believe how pale he actually does look compared to the first episode. But I can't help looking at him and thinking he is the younger brother of Carrot Top. They have the same bone structure. I tried to find a decent photo of Carrot Top (:lmao: difficult, I know), but this is all I could find.

BROTHERS, I tell you!!!

I would have LOVED to see Michael Kors rate the outfits the Olympians wore tonight for the Opening Ceremonies. "Are they from the Republic of Ralph Lauren?" He even put a giant Ralph Lauren polo symbol on the front of the blazer. Um, wouldn't an American flag have been more appropriate?

Okay, so they weren't awful and I do like the idea of the men and women wearing the same outfit. I just wish as Americans we had a "traditional dress" that embodied our cultural past. I find those the most interesting of the countries walking out. I guess we could send them out as Puritans and Indians and have a mini Thanksgiving Day parade. But that's not very inclusive of our culture as a whole. And who would want to wear those buckled shoes?

You know, while it seems they're supposed to be judging based on just the individual competition's work - I wouldn't be surprised if Daniel got a 'pass' this week because of the plastic cup dress.
