I really liked the plastic cup dress too. But, I loved the oven mitt/pasta one! It was so summery and fresh.

I liked those as well. I was hoping to see the pasta dress in more detail as a top three. I also liked the braided top made from the mops....that was very clever too. I think all of those designers used a lot of creativity and it will be interesting to see how they do in the future.

I hated the garbage bag dress. She should have gone home. More than the dress, I hated how she just gave up when she realized what she had bought. If you're just gonna give up, you should be going home.

I wonder if she stayed because it would have been very predictable for her to be auf'd. Certainly, she should have gone home.

The guy who went home (Jerry)...his girl looked like a deranged butcher.

Blayne (Girlicious)...he has spent a little too long under the tanning lamps. Maybe those lamps fried his retinas and he can't really see what he's designing? I predict a short run.

I loved the dress made out of the plastic cups!! Daniel, he's gonna be in the top 3.

I never got to see season 1 but agree that there is nothing innovating about table cloths. As to everything else you said, ITA! but you said it better than I could have....fried retinas , I swear, if he had said "Girliciuos" one more time I would have tosed my clicker throught the TV screen!

I liked the vaccuum bag transformation and I really liked the plastic cup dress, never would have thought to iron cups to mold them. I liked the mop top too. I felt bad for Jerry, his raincoat thing was hideous but at least he did more than whine and stitch a generic trash bags together. I would have sent that girl home.

Good show last night. The top 3 dresses were nice. The bottom 3 were horrible. I can see lots of teenage girls in the winners dress at spring prom.

I can't wait to see what they are doing next week. It looked like they were in times square taking pictures. Maybe a "rain" inspiration???

While Suede was making his dress, I kept thinking, "What is he thinking?" Then, Tim told him that he was impressed and I thought, "What is he seeing that I am not?" When the model walked down the runway, I thought, "Oh, so that's what they were talking about!" It really turned out beautifully and probably was the most marketable of all of the dresses.

The guy who was auf'd completely did it to himself. Instead of having a "make lemonade from lemons" attitude he couldn't get overy the "poor me, my model selected awful fabric" attitude. Had he used the green fabric, especially as an accent on the top of the dress, he probably would have done much better, but he couldn't get over his hatred for that fabric.

I liked the one brown dress with the keyhole cutout that was longer. That designer knew how to use the fabric better than the others who got the brown silk.

I was wondering about that dress as well. Then I thought it might be inside out. Whatever it was it turned out way pretty. I could see that at proms this spring.

I dies when Michael Kors told Korto that even curvey women don't want fins on their butt I could not imagine any woman designing a dress with flaps fling off their backside!

Both of the bottom two were awful and either one could have gone home IMO.

Suede's dress was by far the most creative of the bunch and he deserved the win. I was impressed with Stells, too, after last week's garbage bag debacle.

Between Wesley, Kurto and Generic Bland Girl, I didn't care who was auf'd. They were all really hideous. Kurto kept going on and on about accentuating an ethnic woman's curves, but the dress rally did nothing for the bust but make it look smaller, and the fins were insane. GBG's brown dress was so overloaded with "junk" and I thought her model was trying to be diplomatic when she said that the dress was not what she expected. Wesley's was a big ol' mess. You know, Stella and that other girl in the top 3 used some of that silk that everyone hated, too, yet their dresses looked awesome, so it was certainly possible to create a nice cocktail dress.
Eh, whatever. A totally non-controversial auf-ing IMHO.

Stella is interesting. I knew she could do something presentable and while not my style it was much improved.

Wesley deserved to go IMO.

Suede's dress was interesting. I never knew tulle was organic.

Everyone just gravitated to that brown hemp/silk match.
I liked Joe's as well with the keyhole and the sparkly straps-- are rhinestones organic?

Yeah, that outfit could have turned into a horrible mummy wrapping, if he hadn't have pulled it off.

Ironically, I thought it reminded me of the original Star Wars. Luke Skywalker's boots were made of crisscrossing strips of material. Then when Natalie Portman said she loved the dress, I just laughed and thought, "Of course she would."

He reminded me of the guy last season in the episode where overweight women had lost a lot of weight & the designers had to make outfits from one of their old dresses. One guy was given a wedding dress, and all he did was complain that it was cheap polyester. Michael Kors rightfully lit into him, saying there were pearls, trim, enbroidery, etc. Instead, the designer made her look like a French maid. I don't think the judges have a high regard for someone who has an attitude of a victim.

But, actually, I think the gal who did way too many things should have gone instead. It did look like a school project of, "How many techniques can you put into one dress?" Tim Gunn even told her to edit.

And what's with her & Kurto crying like that after they get a critique? How are they going to last in the business when customers complain about their work? They'd better toughen up. It's only Week 2.

My favorites were Suede's and Kenley's dresses. Both were so gorgeous, but Suede's was definitely more inventive and creative. I adore Kenley and her style -- she reminds me a lot of.. me!

The bottom three dresses were all equally hideous, but I agreed with the judges' choice. Wesley's dress was poorly fit and badly sewn. Style and taste are a matter of opinion, but there is no getting around bad execution in a design competition!

Ack! Sandra Bernhard! I didn't think anyone else had as much plastic surgery as Kathy Griffith or Joan Rivers.

I totally couldn't believe Keith's dress. It looked like a bunch of Post-it notes tacked onto a bulletin board.

Tim told Emily exactly what the judges would think of her dress, and she didn't bother to listen to him. It looked like she pinned a ruffled boa to a black dress.

LeAnne redeemed herself from being in the bottom two last week. I actually thought she should have won. They loved that it was separates. Heidi said she would wear it.

I don't understand why Kenley won, since Michael Kors even said you need one big thigh and one thin thigh, Sandra said it looked like she had a goiter on one leg. Then later, Nina said her dress is perfect and she's the winner. ???

I agree with you entirely about last night's winner. Terri should have won. Kenley's dress really was a throwback to the 80's poufy dress.

I don't get why Emily got aufed and not (sorry, I'm not up on all the names yet - it's "only" been three weeks ) the self-proclaimed surrealist. When Nina said that dress didn't make her care to see anything else by that designer, I was sure she was getting dumped. Ah, well...

I Hate Sandra Bernhardt!!! I can't believe that she's anyone's idea of someone with a valid idea of what's tasteful or classy.

I loved LeeAnn's dress. I thought she should have won.

I honestly had Kenley's dress as one of my bottom 3, although I love the other stuff she's done. I think that, already in the season, she has a defined style and we know to expect something fun and upbeat from her.

And you're right: Tim Gunn told Emily exactly what to expect. It cracks me up when a novice at anything is so self confident that they ignore good advice from someone who knows his stuff. But even after the fact, when she had been eliminated, she claimed that her dress was not "an elimination dress." Sorry, sweetheart, you're wrong. Tim's credentials are impeccible, as is his taste. This is his 5th season and he knows the judges and what they're going to love and hate. Listen to those who know what they're talking about and you'll go a lot further!!

Blayne is too bizarre, even for reality TV. And Suede, while talented, has got to learn not to refer to himself in 3rd person. I realize it's his schtick, but it makes him look incredibly stupid.

I HATED HATED HATED the winners dress. Nobody in NYC would where that out in the evening. Way to much color, pattern, and coverage. Young girls these days like to show off their clevage.

I agree, LeAnn (I think that's her name) should have won. The little black skirt with the curves and black top was creative, relevent, and true to the inspiration photo. I got the impression that the judges were considering last weeks designs as well. I had thought each week stood on it's own. humm....

DH & I were not impressed with the winning dress either - we liked the ones LeeAnn (plain girl #1) and Joe (the father of 2) made the best. The flamboyant black guy's dress was beautiful and well-made, but not really appropriate for a night on the town, I think. Also, Kurto's outfit was very well-made, but not innovative enough to get top three. Stella's outfit made her model look too masculine & likes she had no breasts. I think that rocker/leather look works better when a bit of femininity is left in the design.

I didn't get why they liked Terri's outfit so much. The whole "pants and a long dress-shirt" look is so last year. How could her outfit have made top 3???


I was hoping Jennifer (plain girl #2) would get the boot b/c (1) she is dull, dull, dull; and (2) I would not keep getting her confused with LeeAnn. At least now I am starting to remember LeeAnn has bangs and is more creative, even if her stuff isn't always great.
