Project Runway - Season 3 Official Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

So I get those text messages they advertise. Here's the latest.

From Robert: I chose vincent cause he has just the right amount of crazy to make it work. For all his insanity. he knows his stuff when it comes to construction.

I think this pattern book thing was postponed for a while. I would have ratted him out first day. I wonder why people waited so long.

I'm glad it was Keith!   I really didn't like him.

I always thought his dresses looked too perfect for someone who had never done women's wear. But I thought he was ripping off designs, not using a pattern book. Kinda the same in a way. I'm just glad it was him!!!

I wonder if when they do these group things, the client picks their favorite designs and also their least favorite. They called Bonnie's stuff last year, but didn't they chose the design? It seems unfair to auf' one of these two when their designs beat out all of the rest.

I'm not sure the others actually noticed it until the time they brought it to the producer's attention. Or, maybe they did, but it took a while to realize who it belonged to.

I only caught about half this episode because I was in and out of the room but here are my initial thoughts:

This confirms my previous comment that Angela is the Wendy Pepper of this season! They were both always in the bottom then suddenly the won the challenge that will be sold in stores! She only pulled it off because of Laura and Michael, though. That is the only reason. Had she been left to her own devices, she would have been auf'd this week. Michael and Laura need to get a free pass for helping her out. Angela better not be in the final three!

I'm still loving Jeffrey and Alison and thought they did great tonight. I don't know what the heck Robert was doing but I do not want him to leave yet. Also, he designs for the real Barbie! I expected better than this. Bonnie had to leave; she's responsible for dressing Serena Williams and I think that alone should have disqualified her.

Goodbye, Keith!

Where is Michael Kors?

Finally, exactly what was Heidi wearing at the judging?

I'm off to watch the repeat!

I think if Angela didn't have Michael and Laura on her team she would have had those darn fabric roses/pinwheels stuck all over her outfit like she did last week. She would have never won without their help.

I was hoping Jeffery and Allison would have won even though I'm not crazy about Allison - just because they had to do that whole outfit on their own. Even before Keith was kicked out he was having them do all the work.

I'm glad he (Keith) got booted. He was crooked from day one with his plagerizing his portfolios

::yes::
And I could have seen her making some kind of poofy pants. She was very lucky she had them because both of them have wonderful taste and were able to tone her ideas down a couple of notches.

I love Robert.. so when he was in the bottom 2 I almost had a heart attack.. I liked Bonnie, but not at the expence of my Robert dearest :goodvibes hehe

I am glad that Keith is out! Especially after his comment when he didn't win the Dog - accessory challenge.. he said something along the lines of, "I didn't win, that doesn't make any sense" - how much of a jerk can you be! And his whole little "apology".. he was being kicked off the show, the least he could have done was admitted he was wrong instead of still thinking he did the right thing..

What's up with all this "team leader" stuff this season.. I liked last seasons team challenges - how they were more collaborative and less "I am the leader, you must obey!"

And indeed, what was up with Heidi's judging outfit.. at first I thought that thing was a skirt.. the wrap top with the ribbon things may have looked cute with jeans.. but with those bunchy short things? :sad2:

What are all those tatoos all over Jeffery? Does he have writing across his neck? I am just coming into the show this season so not sure if it has been discussed before. Keith was an idiot and still didn't think he did anything wrong...what an ego! I also like Robert and a couple of the the others but I am not up on all the names yet.

TheGirlin14GI am glad that Keith is out! Especially after his comment when he didn't win the Dog - accessory challenge.. he said something along the lines of said:
Yeah, his whole apology boiled down to "I'm sorry you had issues with me cheating by bringing in pattern books and leaving the apartment without permission to access the internet so that I could look up more patterns and now you have made me the laughing stock of the industry" Please dude, you SO brought it on yourself and I still say your butt should have hit the pavement the minute they realized your portfolio of woman's wear was nothing but photoshopped pictures of other designers models on the runway made to look like you sketched them. :sad2:

I was hoping it would have been Keith. I really thought, though, it would have been for drugging and not cheating. The guys eyes were always rolling into the back of his head. He looked stoned out of his mind.

The fact that he cheated and is now out is only icing on the cake!

AuroraB, I do agree, they are making her (Angela) into a new Wendy Pepper. If she makes it to the final three, I will never watch the show again!!!

I have new respect for Jeffrey after last night's episode. I guess I prejudged him with the tatoos and the bit of cockiness on the first episode...now he seems like a hard worker and an overall good person. But I'm kinda glad that Jeffrey and Allison did't win...I mean, that would mean Keith's design would be sold in stores. :confused3 That would be weird.

So looks like we have at least two more weeks of Angela. :sad2:

We're down to Bradley, Jeffrey, Michael, Robert, Kayne, Vincent, Uli, Allison, Angela, and Laura. Guesses for the final 3, anyone???

I posted on this a few pages back ... but here it is again, just for you!

What's that scribbling around Runway contestant Jeffrey Sebelia's neck? His son's name, tattooed with "a lot of swirly calligraphy," Sebelia tells Scoop. Eighteen-month-old Harrison Detroit "is the love of my life, so underneath it says, 'l'amor de la mia vita.'" And if that's not enough to impress little Harrison, how about the pain Dad endured? The eight-hour tattoo job, Sebelia says, was "brutal."

And, w/Heidi and Co. critiquing all the outfits, I wanted to critique Heidi's outfit. Was that a skirt or shorts!? Regardless, it looked like she had a loaded diaper on from the back! That thing was horrible!!!! I said to DH that if I were one of the designers being critiqued, I would've ask Heidi what possessed her to wear a black outfit that, from behind, looked like she pooped her pants.

:rotfl: :rotfl2:

What is going on with Robert?? I really liked him at first, but his designs have not been as good as what I expected. Barbie would have NEVER worn that design from last night! :teeth: I hope he can redeem himself next week.

And I agree with others who said that Angela is so lucky she got a good team, otherwise she never would have won.

And I agree with others about the team leader situation. What's up with that? 2 weeks in a row we were not able to see each designer's design talents. I hope that next week is not a team challenge.

I agree -- I am tired of team challenges, too! This was their 4th challenge. That means that they've done half of their challenges as teams. Too much for the beginning of the season! They should've waited longer for another team challenge! I want to see their personal creativity shine through, not how they work as a team! I'm getting bored with the team trend!

I watched it again today and before the reveal it is Keith, he says he always cheats just a little bit. I should have taken that as a sign. It was when he was talking the cashier down at the fabric store trying to get more than his budget share.

I guess you can only cheat so much!

Oh and it looks like Michael Kors is back next week!

I had heard that Kera Saun(1st season of PR) was designing Heidi's outfits. Does anybody know if this is true?

I know Kara Saun designed Heidi's outfits for Season 2, but I don't know about this season. The diaper-dress Heidi was wearing last night didn't fit very well.

Keith assigned his team to do all the work because he knew he couldn't. Keith's comments about how he "always breaks the rules a little" combined with his apology of "I'm sorry you have a problem with me cheating" suggest to me he might have a personality disorder. You made yourself the laughingstock Keith, not Project Runway.

I loved Laura's comment about Angela's usual design aesthetic: "full-tilt boogie Angela quilted extravaganza ... of puff."

Bradley's non-sequitur of "She kept hounding me about the pants. Maybe she doesn't like my beard" was awesome! (Don't know if that is the exact quote but it is close.) I think Bradley might be a bit crazy but one of my friends posited the idea that he may have been enjoying some...uh...controlled substances...this episode.

I hate the Angela rosettes. I remember learning how to make those rosettes and sewing them onto vests and scrunchies in elementary school. But that was okay in the early-90s. I wonder if that is a sign of limited skill on Angela's part? Luckily Laura and Michael were able to make the rosettes look elegant. And they are skilled in construction which helped make the outfit look expensive.

The pants Jeffrey and Alison made were hot! I would wear those. They are very rock-inspired and very now. The fit of the pants and the grey top was amazing.

Overall, I wasn't terribly impressed with any of the designs. There were construction/design issues with Bonnie and Robert and the judges seem to automatically disregard those in favor of finished, well constructed designs, no matter how dull/odd/ugly etc. Does anybody else think Angela won simply because the other designer was Keith and he had just been kicked off?

I think Angela won because she had Michael and Laura helping her realize her design. They toned her "signature rosettes" down a bit. I admit I was shocked when the Macy's INC VP chose her as a team leader, but I guess her first stab at sketching turned out good.

I think the designers should have more time to design individual pieces for these projects and not work in teams so much. In group projects the design is then focused on one person's visualization with the others seeing how well they can be team players. How can a designer be judged on sewing and draping someone else's design? I thought the episode designing a pageant gown for Miss USA would have been more interesting had we been able to see all the designers efforts.
